True, there is nothing "little" about the Good Reverend.

It's all that greatness, I am like an aphrodisiac, or all the good aspects of MDMA....

Yeah sometimes I can't believe it's me either!

This does happen alot. Threads often get derailed into talking about the Good Reverend....

But enough about me. Lets talk about my greatness!

Do yourself a favor, google this.

    David Axelrod

You obviously did not like what you learned.

So I shall let the gentle readers that may have interest in what caused you to run with tail tucked firmly between legs...

David Axelrod has long been known for his political magic. Through his AKP&D Message & Media consultancy, the campaign veteran has advised a succession of Democratic candidates since 1985, and he's now chief strategist for Senator Barack Obama's bid for President. But on the down low, Axelrod moonlights in the private sector.

From the same address in Chicago's River North neighborhood, Axelrod operates a second business, ASK Public Strategies, that discreetly plots strategy and advertising campaigns for corporate clients to tilt public opinion their way. He and his partners consider virtually everything about ASK to be top secret, from its client roster and revenue to even the number of its employees. But customers and public records confirm that it has quarterbacked campaigns for the Chicago Children's Museum, ComEd, Cablevision, and AT&T.

ASK's predilection for operating in the shadows shows up in its work. On behalf of ComEd and Comcast, the firm helped set up front organizations that were listed as sponsors of public-issue ads. Industry insiders call such practices "Astroturfing," a reference to manufacturing grassroots support. Alderman Brendan Reilly of the 42nd Ward, who has been battling the Children's Museum's relocation plans, describes ASK as "the gold standard in Astroturf organizing. This is an emerging industry, and ASK has made a name for itself in shaping public opinion and manufacturing public support."

    LOWEST OF LOW PROFILES
Eric Sedler, 39, a former public relations director at AT&T and corporate-reputation specialist at PR giant Edelman, is the "S" in ASK and the company's managing partner. The "K" is John Kupper, 51, a former congressional press secretary and ad-industry consultant, while the "A," of course, is Axelrod, a onetime Chicago Tribune reporter who got his start in politics when he managed Illinois Democrat Paul Simon's first election to the U.S. Senate. Sedler says opponents mischaracterize what ASK does. "I reject the notion that a company can't advocate a public policy," he says. "These issues are complicated, and people have different points of view." Axelrod, 53, did not respond to phone messages and e-mails.
The Secret Side of David Axelrod - BusinessWeek

The Post said: "Axelrod's firm recommended an aggressive promotional effort modeled on a political campaign -- appoint a campaign manager, conduct focus groups, target messages to specific constituencies, then recruit religious leaders and other third-party 'validators.' They, in turn, would write and submit opinion pieces to Chicago publications."

ASK's approach is known as "Astroturfing", or manufacturing artificial grassroots. More on that in a moment.

The Post quoted a U. of C. spokeswoman:

"An ER visit for something that's not an emergency costs the medical center $1,200.That's sucking up dollars in health care that we don't all have to just blow through carelessly.

"Michelle inspired us . . . to step back and take a holistic approach to this problem."

So U. of C.-style holistic medicine meant that the university got money-losing poor people to go elsewhere for care.

    Not everyone was pleased.

"I've had some complaints from my constituents," Alderman Toni Preckwinkle, a former teacher who represents Chicago's 4th Ward and was an Obama delegate at the Democratic National Convention, told The Post. "It's hard to know whether this is motivated by the interests of the patients or by the financial interests of the medical center."

Dr. Quentin Young, chairman of the Health and Medicine Policy Research Group, which works for a national health plan to cover everyone, sounded off in the Post as well. Young is personal physician to many pols. He was Mayor Harold Washington's doc and was health commissioner under Washington during the nasty Council Wars. Barack Obama is also a patient at Young's practice.
Howard Wolinsky: David Axelrod: A Tale of Two Firms

David Axelrod, the father of astroturfing, condemned the nationwide Tea Party protests as "dangers" and called them "astroturfing."

You'd think it take one to know one. Ruh-roh Elroy!

Axelrod will make a nice $3 million dollar wad over the next five years for the sale of his Chicago firm ASK Public Strategies. ASK is famous for many things, most notably for helping Illinois utility company Commonwealth Edison by way of a television spot advocating for rate hikes on behalf of an astroturfed group called CORE. A complaint was filed and the utility was forced to pay up and admit the scheme.

ASK also worked with Cablevision, the company which owns Madison Square Garden, to fake a grassroots group to oppose the NY Jets' plan to build a new stadium in New York City.

    Hypocrisy much?
David Axelrod, Father of Astroturfing, Sells His Famous Firm | BlogHer

The media love covering grassroots attacks on major political candidates. The attacks signal a large base of Americans disturbed by a particular candidate or issue. When those grassroots attacks are manufactured by public relations firms, they aren’t real: they’re astroturfed -- fake attacks designed to look like a grassroots movement.

David Axelrod, Barack Obama’s chief strategist, is a master of astroturf campaigns. It should come as no surprise then that Axelrod and the Obama campaign appear to be behind anonymous attacks against Sarah Palin surfacing on the internet.

The attacks on Palin started online shortly after McCain named her his running mate and quickly spread to the mainstream media. Palin was allegedly a member of the John Birch Society. She became a member of an Alaskan separatist group. She showed no compassion for rape victims in Wasilla, Alaska. The attacks cited news organizations but were all quickly debunked. Unfortunately, the attacks went viral and started circulating through email and across the internet.

What struck many bloggers as unusual about these “grassroots” attacks was the production quality of the videos. They were well done for amateurs. The Jawa Report, a noted right of center blog known for tracking down online terrorists, observed that the videos had a female voiceover strikingly similar to the same voice David Axelrod has used in Obama advertisements and other work.

Breaking yesterday, the Jawa Report has provided stunning documentation and evidence that fairly well proves the videos are tied to David Axelrod and the Barack Obama campaign.

The Jawa Report has so well documented the ties to the Obama campaign that it sent the posters of the online attack videos into a coverup frenzy. The posters have been hard at work yanking all the attacks from the internet. Here, in a nutshell, is what the Jawa Report has shown.
