What do you thnk? Risking Star?

Okay, most of us who admire and like Sarah Palin do recognize that the the media is able (I think intentionally) to make her stumble verbally and this has diminished her stature with some and has definitely pulled down her approval ratings. It is very likely this has been sufficient to keep her out of the oval Office.

But after watching this interview, I think this young lady might be bright enough, knowledgeable enough, quick enough on her feet, and centered enough to go toe to toe with anybody. What do you think?

I see that I wrote 'risking' instead of 'rising' but in a way they both fit.

As an afterthought I am wondering if it isn't time to take the gloves off. I have always advocated principled and reasoned debate in a civil manner. But maybe conservatives/rightwingers/Republicans or whatever have played it too 'nice'. Maybe what we need is more calling a duck a duck as Michelle did in this interview.

    What do you think?

Michelle is amazing, and it would be intriguing to see her run for any office. I would certainly hope though, that if she begins a career in politics, it is with local or state office, or at least a couple of terms in the House.

I don't want us to be guilty of the sins of the Democrats by advancing candidates with too-thin résumés.

As for taking the gloves off, I’ll give that a qualified “yes.”

I want us to provide a contrast in many ways to the hyper-emotive Left. That includes expressing greater calm, poise and rati0onality. Admittedly, considering the state of the Dems, this is a low bar, but it provides us with at least one sterling advantage.

That is that people tend to become both less gullible and less prone to excessive emotional appeal over the decades. By remaining a party of clear adults, the republicans should be able to gain increasing support as the country shifts to a more mature demographic.

Very good points. I do think our most common spokespersons are sometimes so determined to appear calm and thoughtful and reasonable that they come across as weak in their convictions. Michelle didn't raise her voice, didn't come across (to me) as snotty or hateful, but she didn't mince any words and said what I think a lot of us self-declared 'take the high road' types have been thinking but have been reluctant to say for fear of appearing unreasonable.

Maybe we could shoot for a middle ground? Don't be afraid to call a duck a duck while continuing to be civil?

I do agree Michelle needs a deeper resume in experience and proven leadership ability. And despite the uncharitable and hateful remarks said about her on this thread, stuff she no doubt shrugs off, she is yet untested in the real arena of politics of personal destruction. We've seen that thrown no holds barred at Sarah. Would Michelle be tougher? I don't know.

A.) This is not breaking news.
B.) You can have her, she is nutjob like Limbaugh, Coulter, and Caribou Barbie. Believe me, they are the absolute best at leading the Republican party...to oblivion. So I fully support you all rallying to these nutjobs. Have at it.

She is a wacko who can only memorize over generalized dimwit talking points that have zero relevance to reality and only lives in the space between her ears.

Just like the nations most recent quitting Gov.

Re: What do you thnk? Risking Star?

Nobody is claiming that she is not controversial among conservatives. (I don't think she is the least bit controversial among liberals who, at least according to what I have observed so far, march in lockstep to condemn and dismiss her as irrelevent. They trash her and ridicule her but few, if any, are able to formulate any reasoned argument for why their opinion is valid.)

But getting back to the right of center perspective, nobody is claiming she has been right on every issue she has championed. But I can't think of a single person living or dead who has been right on every issue he or she has championed. I think some who would accuse her of just memorizing or parroting the 'party line' have never really listened to her or read her or there is no way in hell they would be saying something so silly.

I would be curious of which comment she made in that Matt Lauer interview, though, that anybody, left or right of center, thinks she could not back up. In fact hasn't already backed up in her most current book.

I'm all in favor of Malkin running for President on the Republican ticket as early as 2012. Perhaps with Palin as running mate. Sounds like a winning team to me.

In truth, I think she has the attitude, smarts, and the right ideas, but I think she would bring too thin a resume at this time. She needs to run for public office locally or at the state level or perhaps for Congress and spend a few years in the trenches that way before going for the White House.

To oust the current occupant of the White House we are going to need a really strong GOP candidate or Independent super-candidate with the vision, the message, the credentials, and the charisma and a track record for delivering what he or she has promised. I don't think Michelle is quite ready and I think the GOP so poorly equipped Sarah for the arena that she may never be given the chance to achieve her full potential.

But I do think it is going to require the courage to keep from being cruel or mean, but still call a duck a duck. Michelle sure knows how to do that.
