Harry Reid and his party pals are now blaming THE MEDIA (LOLOLOL!) for producing, promoting and perpetuating the AUGUST DEADLINE as a date against which to measure progress or lack thereof on health care legislation.
One can only surmise how seriously the 75 reporters in attendance received their admonishment from Senator Reid and his friends for creating out of headline seeking whole cloth a reality like the AUGUST RECESS (LOLOL!) as a natural deadline for getting something done.
Senatorial leadership next directed its complaints against Republican recalcitrance as the cause of and explanation for the failure of the party in power to make progress on this, their self styled banner issue, health care reform.
All this blaming, dodging, finger pointing and excuse making on the part of democratic leadership---reaching all the way to the top---is fast getting old, even for an administration so relatively new.
This kind of transparent side stepping and avoidance of personal responsibility by party leaders is really costing them credibility, amongst the media and the people at large.
Note how immediately the reporters rushed to the airwaves to LOL! this story to the public. It was on ABC radio by noon pacific.

From The Hill, written by J Taylor Rushing:
Senate Democratic leaders on Thursday blamed Capitol Hill media for setting an August deadline for health reform and Republicans for blocking the bill's progress.
Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Democratic Conference Vice Chairman Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Conference Secretary Patty Murray (D-Wash.) also acknowledged that critics will "pour it on" during the coming August recess and they plan to respond in kind.
Reid said reporters created a fictitious deadline of a successful vote by the August recess, and downplayed the fact that the chamber won’t meet that mark.
“That is a deadline that you created,” Reid told a group of about 75 reporters. “It’s not like we don’t have a product. Significant progress has been made … The mere fact that this wasn't done by last Friday or by five o’clock doesn't mean we’re not going to get a quality product."
“The only problem with getting a bipartisan bill is the Republican leadership in the Senate,” Reid said.
