Turns out that Hal Turner is not just your ordinary hate speech jock on the radio:

And now we find out, for sure, that he was an FBI informant -- out there for years, whipping the crazies up into a frenzy, drawing out the true believers ready to commit violence, then turning them over to the FBI, even though they're seemingly going along with what he was promoting.

It seems that Hal Turner is not what he seems..... Strike that, yes he seems like a complete douche bag, and that is what he is. But the announcement that Turner is also an FBI informant is hilarious. Here you have all these crazies who see Turner as a God, being turned in after being goaded by Turner to do crazy stuff. LOL.

:rofl

Now that is hilarious

So, all his racist fans were nothing more then suckers. :rofl

Couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of kooks.

Becoming an informant is an easy task. Generally all you have to do is get caught doing something illegal and your in. In exchange for your information they look the other way about what ever they have on you. For law enforcement it's a win, win, win, situation because you stop committing what ever crime you were doing, they get the next guy, and the informant doesn't have to play by the same rules as say and under cover officer. They do things like entice people to commit crimes that if done by law enforcement would be entrapment. The informant can go along with criminals in the commission of a crime, or do drugs and other things Law enforcement could get in trouble for.
This all leads me to wonder what they had on him at the outset. Clearly using the inflammatory language he allowed should have got him thrown off the air for FCC violations and then being so stupid that he apparently thought being an informant would protect him shows how truly stupid this idiot was. First for being a racist and second for just plain every day lack of intelligence. We don't need his kind on the air or walking around in public.
I never heard him on the radio and wouldn't have listened for more than a few seconds, hell I can't stomach more than a few minutes of Rush because he gets it wrong so much, I wonder if he gets his news from the papers. Writer Jim Marrs told me the papers are filled with yesterdays news tomorrow, and he was right.

That's pretty ****ed up, it's like he's creating crimes for the government to solve.
Like goading people, who otherwise wouldn't do illegal things, into doing it.

That would constitute entrapment.

I'm certain that the FBI made sure that any prosecutions resulting from information that Turner handed over did not fall into that category.

It's not entrapment, I mean they don't have to do illegal things but it seems he's taking advantage of people with possible psychological issues.

I dislike very much that a political radio host is also an FBI informant, it's a situation asking for abuse.

Is it still entrapment if the person who does it is an informant and not an officer?

If they're acting in concert with the government (as most informants are when they act within the scope of their agreement), then yes.

Nothing actually quite surprising. He may have been pressured into this some time ago after being confronted with something we are not aware of. Quite a few prominent mob members turned out to be informants. The most famous was Jimmy the Weasel Fratianno who eventually turned into state's witness for one reason; it was found there was a contract out for him for being an informant.
James Whitey Bulger, who Jack Nicholson's character in the The Departed was modeled after, was a longtime informant.

Like the fact that he could have been sent to jail dozens of times for his threats and incitement to violence?

I don't really know anything about this guy but has he really done that?

Hal Turner in His Own Words

November 9, 2007: Under the headline,"DEAR JEWS AND OTHER NON-CHRISTIANS AS WE APPROACH THE CHRISTMAS SEASON, PRACTICE TOLERANCE….," Turner wrote: "Anyone who goes after Christian seasonal celebrations will be made to answer to us... We don't want to have to show up at anyones [sic] house as they're coming home or leaving, to beat the hell out of them on their own front lawn; we don't want to have to grab anyone on their lunch break at work and break their legs, crack their skull open with a baseball bat, or burn down their home or office. We certainly don't want to have to take up sniper positions outside quiet residential areas in the dark of night with high powered rifles and put a rifle shot through anyone resting comfortably in their home. Whether or not any of that happens this year is solely up to you. Leave us alone and we'll leave you alone. Pick on us --- and we may feel compelled to f--king destroy you."

October 24, 2007: "And I think that we have arrived at a time when one or more of these 44 (later amended to 52) defiant U.S. Senators needs to get cracked in the skull with a baseball bat, needs to get a bullet through the brain. They have betrayed us AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN. IT IS TIME FOR SOMEONE TO PAY A PRICE AN EXAMPLE TO THE OTHERS.…"

October 22, 2007: Under the heading, "Chief of International Monetary Fund Warns of U.S Dollar collapse," Turner wrote, "I have all the home addresses of folks in Congress, the Senate, the President's Cabinet, as well as all the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, all the jew [sic] Boards of Directors of the biggest banks and investment houses in the country. . . . where they live, where they go to temple. . . . I intend to bring such a **** storm down on these people that history will record what happens for all eternity! When these people are finally made an example of, others throughout eternity will dread doing what they did fearing the same result. If I play my hand right, what I achieve could make the Holocaust look like child's play."

Also:

On December 6, 2006, Turner announced on his website:

"We may have to ASSASSINATE some of the people you elect on Nov. 7! This could be your LAST ELECTION CHANCE, to save this Republic... Sorry to have to be so blunt, but the country is in mortal danger from our present government and our liberty is already near dead because of this government. If you are too stupid to turn things around with your vote, there are people out here like me who are willing to turn things around with guns, force and violence. We hope our method does not become necessary.

On April 4, 2008, Turner encouraged violence against Lexington, Massachusetts school superintendent Paul Ash for establishing a new curriculum supporting gays and lesbians. On his website, he stated:

"I advocate parents using FORCE AND VIOLENCE against Superintendent Paul B. Ash as a method of defending the health and safety of school children presently being endangered through his politically-correct indoctrination into deadly, disease-ridden sodomite lifestyles."

Two months later, on June 2, 2009, Turner posted on his blog

"Let me be the first to say this plainly: These judges deserve to be killed. Their blood will replenish the tree of liberty. A small price to pay to assure freedom for millions."

The next day Turner posted information on how to find Chief Judge Frank Easterbrook and Judges Richard Posner and William Baue.

WTF, why wasn't he arrested for that crap?

He is definitely goading people into committing violence.

Turner actually was indicted and arrested for advocating assassinations on his radio show. That was when it was discovered that he was also an FBI informant.

Like the fact that he could have been sent to jail dozens of times for his threats and incitement to violence?

No argument there. I was merely pointing out that the FBI has a long history in turning the blind eye towards the very people they are suppose to be arresting, so long as they can gather information. Question here is what exactly did this loser really provide them? If he provided them with actionable intelligence that stopped violence, led to arrests and convictions, then maybe this was the best course...maybe. But I do question whether this was another case of the FBI being more interested in data mining than actually enforcing laws.

I skimmed through the article and saw some of those things.

Are they going to actually charge him now that they know he is an informant?

They should. I don't give a damn what the circumstances are. It is a criminal act to vocally advocate assassinations.

This is business as usual for the federal government regarding informants.
It's happened for years with drug and weapons cases, and RICO cases.
In a lot of drug cases the kingpin rolls over on his underlings and he goes free, because of a higher arrest count, with all the people who worked for him,and gets to keep all his ill gotten gains, and a percentage of any other moneys confiscated.
