If the Democratic Party is planning to move away from identity politics in the wake of its presidential election defeat, that memo didn’t reach some of the candidates running for Democratic National Committee chair. One candidate declared at a forum Monday that white people need to “shut our mouths” and that her job is to “shut other white people down.”
“I’m a white woman, I don’t get it,” Sally Boynton Brown, Idaho Democratic Party executive director, told an applauding crowd at the Democracy in Color forum in Washington, D.C.
The forum, hosted by MSNBC’s Joy Reid, included favorite Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn.; former Labor Secretary Tom Perez; Democratic strategist Jehmu Greene; South Bend, Ind. Mayor Pete Buttigieg; New Hampshire Party Chairman Ray Buckley; and South Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Jaime Harrison -- all seeking to take over the top DNC post.

Please, make this woman the next DNC chair. PLEASE.

Umm... they were doing a postmortem on the election and were suggesting that they want a better showing of minority leadership at consultant firms.

"“We have to stop, particularly with the consultants,” said Jaime Harrison, chairman of the South Carolina Democratic Party. “You cannot come to the DNC and get a contract and the only minority face you have is the person answering the phone.”

Fox News analyst Jehmu Greene, also a candidate for the chairmanship, said “the DNC did a piss poor, pathetic job” attracting minorities, adding that minority consultants “need to get the same resources that the white consultants have gotten.”"

The Democrat Party did a piss poor job of attracting working middle class in blue states also. They did a piss poor job by ignoring WI, PA and MI. The press did a piss poor job by pushing Clinton so much on the public. The Democratic Party did a piss poor job running their Primary where they cheated to favor one candidate above the other. I could keep going on but suffice it to say, the Democrat Party did a piss poor job at about everything. By the looks of it that isn't going to change very soon. They keep forcing their message onto the voters rather than listening to the voters.

I would rather democrats pick someone sane as their DNC chair.Because what happens to the country should republicans lose the majority in the house and senate? Because history has shown that presidents whose party are in the majority in the house and senate eventually lose that majority in one or both the house and senate.

Not only that, we need some kind of counter because as much as I dislike the Democrats I don't trust Republicans with no legitimate pressure to remove power from them. The whole absolute power corrupts absolutely comes into play here and as corrupt as both parties are it could always get worse should one party be able to demolish the other.

Oh NO! Not another attempt to try and pretend that a clip of a random mad woman - like the one who was removed from the plane - has something to do with the Democrat Party.

"random mad woman" ?

No, she's one of the DNC chairperson candidates vying for the position with other candidates and the Democratic party boss in Idaho. So, no, not a random mad woman.

Sally Boynton Brown is the executive director of the Democratic Party of Idaho. She announced her candidacy for chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) on December 16, 2016.[SUP][1][/SUP]

On the other hand, how weird is it that the DNC would be considering a random mad woman for the DNC chair?

I have to admit, that I'm not exactly sure how I should interpret her comment.
White people shouldn't be allowed to speak? Doesn't that kinda infringe on 1st amendment rights somehow?
I can't think of a time that I heard anything similar from any other political party or representative from a political party, let alone one of a political party's bosses.

And to think that some here don't believe that the Democratic party has gone extremist left, but you can tell they have. These more moderate Democrats were declined by the party after they expressed interest in the job, apparently.

Declined

 • Xavier Becerra, Attorney General of California since 2017; U.S. Representative from California 1993–2017[SUP][18][/SUP]

 • Steve Israel, U.S. Representative from New York 2001–2017[SUP][25][/SUP]

That's just a mind numbingly stupid analysis. Hillary got more votes. What she didn't do is exploit the electoral college to get a win.

Trump didn't exploit the electoral college any more than Obama did.

There are a ton of things wrong with Trump but that isn't one. If there's a problem with the EC, it is because the EC is a relic; a deal to ensure ratification by slave-holding states.

How, exactly, did President Trump exploit the EC?

I wasn't trying to say that President Trump exploited the electoral college to win. More specifically, i believe he exploited American stupidity to win.

What i was trying to say is that cherry picking states that she lost, in hindsight, to claim that she failed to manipulate the EC into a win is erroneous.

Oh, and I suppose nominating Sally Bonkers Brown as DNC chair is a brilliant move. Go for it.

I think that chick is too far off the ranch, even for the flaming'est Liberal.

Given that over 70% of the country is white, they might want to try to reclaim a portion of that demographic that they lost in the last election, but I'm sure not going to tell them that Bonkers Brown isn't an absolutely fabulous idea. I have no doubt some on the left think it's just peachy. If they want to become a regional party I'm sure not going to stop them.

I think it's too much to wish for. ;)

Probably. But considering Debbie got canned, and then there was Brazile...I'd say they're working downhill pretty effectively.

Other than, you know, ACTUALLY saying it.

The stupidity was her not addressing policies that people in the states she lost connected with.

Both were seriously flawed candidates but ultimately Trump was able to gain the support of the majority of states. If the election were based on nothing but the popular vote they would have run different campaigns so holding Trump because he didn't win a completely irrelevant national vote is even more erroneous.

I think this election proves that the political elites at the top of the two parties are no longer the deciding factor.

Grassroots republicans and conservative crossover voters won the election for trump and the grassroots may take over the democrat party in the near future.

Unfortunately the average liberal democrat is very far to the left now and may be inclined to vote for someone even for socialist than bernie sanders

She's a pathetic POS...

The democrats have been know for doubling down on stupid. This is just par for the course. With all the stupid that came out of her mouth in this one speech, can you imagine what this ding dong would say over a period of a year or two?

No, but we may get to find out. Since the collapse of the Clinton machine, there's a distinct lack of leadership on that side of our politics.

My pick for DNC chair is Major Owens if he were alive.
