Monica Crowley has taken herself out of the running for a position in Donald Trump’s White House.

“After much reflection I have decided to remain in New York to pursue other opportunities and will not be taking a position in the incoming administration,” Crowley said in a statement to the Washington Times Monday. “I greatly appreciate being asked to be part of President-elect Trump’s team and I will continue to enthusiastically support him and his agenda for American renewal.”

The author and commentator was supposed to have a national security role under National Security Adviser Michael T. Flynn.
“The NSC will miss the opportunity to have Monica Crowley as part of our team,” Flynn said in a statement. “We wish her all the best in her future.”

In 2012 I heard Crowley say that because Obama was trying to 'purposely' destroy the US that if he was re-elected we'd all be living off the land. Like almost all the far right-wing loons she was wrong, but anyway because of that statement I refused to listen to a single word she said or read a word she ever wrote again. I have no use for people like her.

I am surprised that Trump has decided to surround himself with such vicious lying PoS's like Crowley. Or maybe I'm not surprised. IDK yet.

IDK where you live but I am NOT even close to 'living off the land'. Actually I don't know anyone who is. I'm sure in your right wing la, la land you believe we are. But in the real world, no we're not. The economy is going good and Wall Street is at an all-time high. He sure as hell will leave the country to the next Prez in a hell of a lot better condition then the **** sandwich he inherited from the last GOP president.
 
I hope to see all the supporters of Trump and Crowley post here to say how disappointed they are and to defend both Trump's choice and Crowley's credentials. Don't let us down, please.
 
She should have run as Vice President.

Because we are NOT living off the land, and the country is in GREAT shape. Much, MUCH better than your last GOP admin left it in.

Well this right winger is no hater. All I know is that my business flourished in the Bush Administration because the economy was strong right up to the housing bubble collapse in mid 2008. Without that event, and the subsequent off budget TARP allocation, the deficit was nearly wiped out. My business included, among other things, looking at the P&Ls and bottom lines of a lot of businesses and just about everybody was doing very well. The recession caused by the housing bubble collapse was terrible but not insurmountable.

I was able to hold on for awhile under Obama hoping that things would improve and we would pull of the recession. But eventually it just wasn't profitable enough to continue and I found positions for my employees and closed up shop waiting until things improved to start it up again. Things not only did not improve but got worse. Those P&Ls were looking more and more pitiful too and many others closed up shop as well.

All we have had under Obama is the most sluggish economy for the longest period in my memory, the highest unemployment hidden under self-serving fudged numbers, serious inflation hidden under other self-serving fudged numbers all contributing to a misery index that didn't have to be. What small improvement have been made have in no way offset the negatives.

President-elect Trump was able to see and offer a way out of all that. Which, among other things, is why he is President-elect Trump. Monica Crowley also saw and understood that which is why I am sure she was offered an appointment to the Trump administration

I don't know if she intentionally plagiarized but she was certainly capable of appreciating how that could make her participation on the Trump team a liability. She does have a sharp legal mind and would have had a lot to offer. But sometimes our mistakes are too much to overcome at the moment.

So you did great until it all collapsed under Bush, but because it didn't totally recover under Obama you're still blaming Obama. And the numbers, which have been figured the SAME WAY FOR DECADES are now 'fudged'? Yeah, sorry but you sound like a right wing hater to me.

I blame Obama for initiating policies that have prolonged the recession far beyond what a normal recovery would have been. Absolutely. The point is, the number of working age Americans not working now exceeds the last time it was this bad and that was in the Carter administration--one of many reasons Carter was not re-elected. At least the Carter administration did not deliberately fudge the numbers and try to fool us or take credit for something that was not as it appeared. The Obama administration has done that. So we have very low official unemployment numbers that in no way reflect the truth of the situation.

And I'm sorry if stating the truth as I see it makes me a 'hater' in your eyes. I rather think those who brand as 'haters' those who disagree with them are being much more hateful.

Will Trump be fixing those "false" employment numbers or will he be taking credit for even more false numbers that don't reflect the truth? More importantly how exactly did Obama do this and provide proof please. I would also like to know which countries leaders did a better job of getting us out of Bush's great recession? There must have been some leader smarter than Obama. Don't you think?

NO one 'fudged' the numbers. If you got proof please provide it. But again, those 'numbers' have been figured the same way for DECADES!!! GOP and Dem Admins.

And the Republicans never did a thing to help the economy. Mitch McConnell made it VERY clear that the GOP wasn't going to lift a finger to help Obama look good or get the economy going quickly. They did all they could to make Obama a '1 term president'. And McConnell, and the GOP stuck to that promise. Now Trump is talking about upping the deficit big time and spending trillions on fixing the infrastructure. And I'm sure the right wing haters will now cheer, where over the past 8 years anytime Obama mentioned the same things they lost their minds.

Hypocrisy is the GOP's agenda. The only time they don't give a rats ass about the debt and deficit is when there's a Republican in the WH. When a Dem is there then they don't want to spend because they know at times, to get the economy going the Feds need to spend. Watch Trump spend like crazy. And watch the so called 'fiscal conservative' phony Republicans all of a sudden not care about the debt.

Besides your biased personal anecdote, there isn't much there.

The recovery was indeed a bit slow because:

1. The Bush Crash was no mere cyclical recession, it was a Mitigated 1929 Crash. Not the usual downturn, a Financial Collapse/freeze in which everyone, including all our Banks and Brokers, were BROKE. There was no lending, no commercial paper, Forced mergers of Wachovia, Merrill Lynch, 500 Bank Failures, etc.
We were days (1 or 2) from you/all of us selling pencils for a living. Thankfully, the Fed knew what to do this time.

2. For the First time in History in the First World, (Europe, Japan, USA) we saw, and are seeing, a demographic collapse. So that those two big economies and their work forces Shrunk, as ours is being eroded by 10K boomers retiring a day.
So we were, and are, the shining star of that First World, despite the unprecedented demographic erosion of our trading partners.
2+% is about all one could expect under the circumstances.

3. It has been the Longest recovery in economic history, app 80 months.

4. The 2009 Fiscal deficit was (always is) largely in place by October of the previous year: 2008/Bush. $1.4 Trillion. Declining pretty much since.

5. Bushes tax cuts - especially for the rich - like Reagan's, were failed Trickle down, and BOTH had CRASHES 7+ years in (the 1987 stock market crash)
