Trump Accuses China of Stealing Drone in "Unpresidented" Move

He needs a better Twitter team, preferably one that keeps him off Twitter.

Trump accuses China of stealing U.S. drone in “unpresidented move.

Whether or not the Chinese did this, should we have legislation requiring that the President be able to speak English? Or is this the new "hyuuuge" way to spell?

Just an observation for my fellow anti-Trump posters. It does not bode well to say that Trump puts too much emphasis (sometimes dangerous levels) on Twitter and then critique him for displaying less-than-stellar attention to relatively superficial details posted on a Twitter post. Yes, I get that it took over an hour to edit the post. It's still a dumb jab to make.

I don't think spelling is superficial. I am a grammar Nazi ( though we now prefer to be called the "alt-write")

In the grand scheme of things, is it more important that a Twitter post from the President-elect rocked a corporation's stock or that the President-elect misspelled "unprecedented"?

That is why self-anointed grammar Nazi's might be useful idiots rather than the vanguard they see themselves.

The guy's a freakin' loose cannon, a hazard to everyone on deck. How bad will it get after he's sworn in as 'Precedent', that's the question of the day.

I now intend to call him Precedent Trump for the next 4 years

Ok, he has some communication issues.... but I bet he's been to all 57 states!

Yes agreed, it's a dumb jab.

But then his tweets are Presidential communiques.

We've never had such poor representation before, it's un-Presidential, and some of us are unhappy with this.

Doesn't anyone proof or edit this guy? It sounds like he just shoots out crap off the top of his head! :doh

Exactly.

Spelling and grammar may be superficial when the kid down the block Tweets to his friends.

But it's not superficial in communiques from a nation's leader to the world! :doh

"Vanguard"? What?
Spelling isn't grammar. This, confusing 'president' for 'precedent', is a matter of simple high-school-level literacy. It's the sort of mistake that's made by someone who seldom sees language in print.

When there is so much that is unbecoming of the office, including his use of Twitter, it's important to focus on the consequential rather than the form.

Trump doesn't like to read. He said so.

The anti-Trump folks are making themselves look foolish. There's nothing you can do to put the brakes on that. :lamo

Obama doesn't even know the difference between, "corpse", and, "corps". He can't even pronounce words properly. :lamo

"alt-write" :lamo

Rather than making himself look foolish with this error and wasting 1-1/2 hours correcting it, Trump should have passed it off as an intentional pun - e.g., "I, as President, wouldn't steal a Chinese drone!" Might even have scored some points for wit.

I'm also a spelling/grammar nazi. Sure, everybody (myself included, despite proofreading) makes mistakes. And yes, content matters more than form. But spelling/grammar errors can damage credibility regardless whether one is a DP poster or, even more so, a President-Elect. I've even seen DP posters make errors that change the meaning of their post to the exact opposite of what they intended.

On a official communique from the president of the United States, yes, spelling is important. It only makes the US look idiotic, but then maybe you're right it doesn't matter because the world now KNOWS we are idiots for even electing him in the first place.

Howcum? Noone asks what the drones were doing. Were they planting hydrophones? Were they locating fiber communication lines? Were they antagonizing Chinese subs to gain info on performance/communication/sonar/acoustic parameters? Was what they were doing legal? I'm sure China will let us know in a week or so, after they disasemble the drone and analyze its' functionality. Not unprecedented. Seems like a USA P3 electronic surveillance aircraft was captured, disassembled, and analyzed some years back. Sort of a "loser's weepers, finder's keepers."

And all that has exactly zero relevance to my post you quoted or, for that matter, to the OP.

That happens to me often. I read a lot and know a lot of words I've never heard spoken and sometimes I get pronunciations wrong. That's 'way different from not reading much and not knowing how simple words are spelled.

If typos were that unheard of, "spell-check", and, "auto-spell", wouldn't exist, nor would whiteout. Hell, every grammar nazi on the internet use spell-check and auto-spell.

Ultimately, the point is, Obamabots probably shouldn't pick on President Trump's typos, when their boy doesn't know how to pronounce the word, "corps".
