Trump Accuses China of Stealing Drone in "Unpresidented" Move

Theres nothing wrong with casting a 3rd party vote. It is a political statement.

I would be inclined to disagree. Casting a third party vote is not a political statement. It is a selfish personal statement which says only one thing, "I am more important than WE."

I think people as smart as the libs claim to be could do more good for the country applying their genius from within one of the two major parties instead of sitting on the fence doing nothing except growing Hemorrhoids

So sayeth the Baron of Bafflegab. Oh, by the way, it's spelled Mephistopheles, not Mephistophilis. You must be thinking of Syphilis.

That you missed the connection is no surprise. That you missed it, though, doesn't refute its obvious presence.

I'll tell Christopher Marlowe, he'll be glad of the correction.

"Enter MEPHISTOPHILIS."

To be honest, I had to check the spelling- I kind of remembered but wasn't sure.

No...I let the mindless muppets that support the two major parties enjoy their **** sandwiches together.

Voting for someone with no chance of winning is the same as supporting the winning candidate. The time to change the way elections are run so that 3rd party votes mean something is now until he next election.

You referenced Geothe, but it doesn't matter who told or retold the legend, Mephistopheles is the one and only correct spelling, unless, of course, you have one of those search engines that made it to the top on gold stars and smiley faces. OE wasn't the language of choice in 19th Century Germany.

Here's an offer of a tie breaker:ask your mother-in-law how she'd spell it and we'll go by that.

If i make a 3rd party vote i am comunicating the direction i believe is in the best interests of the nation. If i did not believe trumps leadership benefitted us i would not of voted for him either.

Its not only your right but its also your civic responsibility to vote your conscious.

That's a surprising thing to say considering Gary Johnson showed himself to be a buffoon this election cycle.

In your first sentence, you mentioned the pronoun "I" no less than five times. This great nation of ours is indeed made up of individuals, but our greatness comes from our unity. E Pluribus Unum comes to mind. You have the "right" to go out in your front yard, pick up a handful of dogpoop, and rub it all over your face, but that doesn't make you noble.

No, I didn't 'reference' Goethe, I just said I'd been corrected on the pronunciation of his name. I've never read Goethe's version of Faust but I liked Marlowe's. We (the ex-inlaw and I) were talking about your boy Mephistophowhatever and how his character was nearly more sympathetic than Faust's. In Marlowe, anyway- I forget what she said about Goethe's take. It was a long time ago and she's beyond our questions now.
The edition I read had the name spelled with 'i's, not 'e's, like the citation I quoted. Ask yourself this- do you know of any words that Shakespeare spelled differently from how you and I would spell them? I suspect that 'Mephistophilis' might be a Latin spelling, but I can't be arsed to look into it further.

Shouldnt be too surprising since I have said the same thing and stated that as the reason I couldnt even vote Libertarian this election.

But if you acknowledge that the third party candidates often make themselves out to be a bunch of basket cases, then why is it stupid to support one of the two major parties? I find that third parties often choose subpar candidates. Cynthia McKinney in 2008 for the greens, Bob Barr for the L PARTY that same year. And this year for Gary Johnson.

Yes the two party system is entrenched but third party candidates aren't doing the American people any favors.

No...they aren't doing themselves any favors any more than party minions are doing the country any favors. As long as there is a 'status quo' that feeds incompetence the two parties will have no incentive to change.

Look...vote how you want.

Just to clear it up(and not to whip a dead horse, swear to God), the Faustian Legend was of German descent supposedly finding its origins around 1540. It became popular, and a number of contemporary authors and playwrites jumped on it because it was a very compelling and intriguing tale. When it sailed across the English Channel in the late 16th century, words from the various texts were Anglicized. Thus, when Marlowe took to pen, the Germanic Mephistopheles became Mephistophilis. Upon its return to the continent, Mephistopheles got his old name back. The joyous good news is that we are both correct, as is usually the case. Happy Holidays! Quaz.

Your response has no bearing on what you quoted. I can also say the same logic in your.post can apply to two party voters. We are not obligated to choose someone we do not like just because they are less bad than their opponet.

I could of written george washington down and i would of been telling the parties the type of candidate they need to run, if they want my vote. If enough people do that the party will respond accordingly to attract that voter.

I'm mildly surprised. I'd have guessed that 'Mephistophilis' was a Latin version, partly because English is German-derived and the 'e's just look more correct to us.
I'm just glad we got that settled. I'll sleep better tonight, knowing.
Cheers

No

You are letting others take responsibility for the direction of the nation so that you can stand on the sidelines and complain no matter which side wins

Speak for yourself because your views dont represent mine. Voting for the least bad is your strategy. I vote for the person or the kind of person that i think is best suited to lead the nation.

Your opinion is not the only one in the room. If somebody else feels 3rd party is the better option its their civic responsibility to vote that way. I find your attempt at shaming people into thinking like you didpicable. It is the primary thing i despise about the left and the right.

Furthermore I'm not letting anyone take responsibility for anything but their own vote as i am mine.
