I don't agree with this. I see your point, certainly. It can make you out to be a hypocrite if people want to spin it that way. And they will.
But your girlfriend having a DUI shouldn't be damning on you personally. So what? You love the girl and you forgave her for trying to get home after staying out too late at Buffalo Wild Wings one night. And that's not even a malicious act. It's not like she thought, "Oh, man... I can't wait to plow into a family of five tonight!" She just wanted to get home from the bar. And same with Melanoma working while on a visitor visa. I'm certain she wasn't thinking "**** the US! I'm gonna break their laws!" She just had hopes and dreams of being successful.
I don't disagree with any of this. My comment was sarcasm, which can be difficult to convey in writing. I know the Don is no stranger to hypocrisy but this just isn't an example of one of those times.
