Trump’s Vile Candidacy Is Chemotherapy for the GOP

Your condemning trump for positions your assigning to him. Overall he is a lib. Other than having the wrong letter behind his name that is worse than the person your supporting

What positions has Trump ran as a liberal on? Tax Policy he is running as a typical Republican. On social issues he is running as a typical Republican. On energy and environment he is running as a typical Republican. On regulation, typical Republican. On foreign policy, I don't know what he is other than an idiot.

Fair enough those are republican economic positions. He also is a big welfare guy. Free daycare, universal healthcare, rebuild inner cities...

He doesn't support gay marriage, he doesn't support abortion, he doesn't support Obamacare, he doesn't support many government funded social policies. How is he a "lib"?

Trump is mostly just completely incoherent on pretty much everything. You're right, he does talk about welfare and all the rest, and rebuilding the military, and sending troops to crush ISIS etc. AND $trillions in tax cuts. So he's just playing the role of Santa Clause. I quit trying to figure it out long ago, when his first tax plan was $12 trillion in tax cuts. It's not worth analyzing drivel.

I dont know whay his position is on gay marriage so wont comment on that. Trump is a pro welfare guy. You brought up obamacare and its a fair example. He wants to prov8de universal healthcarw hw just think obamacare is working. He isnt far left but he is left.

What plan has he put forth for inner cities other than the insult to African Americans and Latinos that they are all "living in hell"? His only official position on healthcare has been to repeal the ACA and allow purchasing insurance across state lines. Both of those are Republican positions.

When you're hated by both Liberals *and* Conservatives, you're pretty well ******! :doh

True but you really could say this about both candidates.

Yup your right he is all over the map. Im just trying to figure out how people have come to the conclusion that the hardcore right is his main support. He does not support social conservatism issues any more than he does ubber left issues. I think the republicans have a lot of bluedogs in the party and thats the bulk of his supporters

Does anyone really think this is Trump's bottom? This is edge-of-the-seat stuff. I'm confident there's going to be a sh*t-storm in the next couple weeks.
Thing is, the Billisjustasbad sluff-off is getting kind of threadbare and Hillaryisacrook needs some reinforcement, too. The Trump camp can't seem to come up with anything that isn't last year while the Donald is a continual source of new material.
I wonder what's being sat on?

Read the article today in Politico Magazine where five different biographers talk about Trump. The man is hiding some very damaging information about his abuse of women who have either been bought off or are deathly afraid of him and simply will not talk on the record. I strongly suspect that If any of that came out it would make last Fridays tape look like childs play.

I mostly agree with that. It's pretty hard to square Trump with traditional "conservatives" which is why so many conservative outlets - newspapers, magazines, etc. - and so many conservative leaders have repudiated him and specifically come out against him.

There is a "hardcore" element in his base, but it's not easy to label them, since they don't care about what have been conservative issues. Without getting too much into it on this thread, it appears to me mainly cultural.

Well, there's some truth in that. When your hated, entrusted, and despised - you're effectively doomed, having only one hope: That being the other guy's run a candidate that's even worse!

Interesting article. Just had time to skim it but I'll read the whole thing later. Link here in case others want to read.

I still dont get how anyone is associating Trump with the GOP. I mean...I do if you are a mindless partisan desperate to always attack the GOP. But if you have an ounce of integrity you HAVE to admit that the GOP has fought Trump since the outset and the party and party machine has precisely zero to do with his candidacy.

What the GOP CAN learn from this is just how disappointed and disconnected the GOP voting base is from the party. Embrace change that you can live with or die. trump was not selected as the nominee because he is a great guy, or because he has strong morals, or because he has strong character. He was embraced by the voting public because he is NOT a beltway politician, because he IS addressing illegal immigration, because he IS addressing national security, and because he IS addressing jobs. He has made a stronger attempt than any GOP candidate I am aware of to COMMUNICATE WITH the black American community (while not doing the typical liberal pandering act to try to bribe them for their votes). He is addressing things that are of actual concern to the American people, things the GOP has SAID they are going to do but have never done.

Well, he's running as a Republican. It's not a big stretch at all. The RNC is supporting him, my entire GOP state delegation to Congress supports him, he's got the support of most of the GOP House and Senate. And it's just not true that the "GOP" has fought him - some have, some haven't. And the party "machine" which is headed by Reince, is behind him all the way, and the GOP leaders of the House and Senate endorsed him.

All that is arguably true (except for his attempt to communicate with the black community ) but it's a little bizarre to deny he's a republican, then point out he's hitting on a bunch of hot buttons for GOP voters.

OK, like Obama, an intellectual but no street smarts, "common sense". Dumber than a post. Problem is they can't teach common sense in school no matter high much education they get.

Oh look:

True Conservatives aren't the naive low information rednecks you people make them out to be.

Take it from me, they're well informed principled people who can smell a imposter a mile away. Trumps not a Conservative, never was.

Would you consider yourself a 'True Conservative' ??

Would you consider yourself a 'True Conservative' ??

I consider myself a Conservtive, and not the sum of a bunch of Left wing talking points meant to pidgeom hole my ideology into something its not.
