BREAKING: Fox News Settles With Gretchen Carlson For $20 Million

Yea if you fell under federal statute, and wanted to sue in U.S court for harassment, you would have to overcome the EEOC administrative hurdle. That agency is lame, they find for the employer 80% of the time, pretty much shuts the door to the court house.

actually, if a federal matter, the plaintiff must make a selection to pursue the case via the EEOC or federal court. the election of one prohibits the plaintiff proceeding thru the other litigation mechanism

in the current Obama administration, i would consider the EEOC avenue. but never would have under either bush's or reagan's regime

and is greta leaving because she has lost the support of her co-workers, having come out in support of ailes when this story broke

or is she simply disappointed to realize that despite the rampant sexual atmosphere at faux news, no one wanted to sexually harrass her

Van Susteren says she's leaving because Fox "hasn't felt like home for a few years." According to Variety, Fox says she asked for a contract renegotiation after Ailes left. Greta Van Susteren Will Leave Fox News Channel | Variety

The great news is that Brit Hume will now step into her place. Yay!

They may, or not be admissible at trial, that is the judges call. But if the tapes exist they have to be turned over in discovery to opposing Counsel, or risk discovery sanctions.

OK, but I have no idea how that's responsive to my point. Every piece of evidence of any kind is always subject to being challenged by the defense (or the plaintiff if introduced by the defense) and therefore the judge's call, and I also assume all evidence used by the plaintiff at trial is subject to discovery and therefore turned over to defense counsel.

Is there any reason to believe in general these kinds of one party consent recordings will NOT be held admissible in a civil defamation lawsuit?

That is incorrect You must file a complaint with the EEOC prior to proceeding to court [If you plan to file a lawsuit alleging discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability, genetic information, or retaliation, you first have to file a charge with one of our field offices (unless you plan to bring your lawsuit under the Equal Pay Act, which allows you to go directly to court without filing a charge). We will give you what is called a "Notice-of-Right-to- Sue" at the time we dismiss your charge, usually, after completion of an investigation. However, we may dismiss for other reasons, including failure to cooperate in an investigation. This notice gives you permission to file a lawsuit in a court of law. Once you receive a Notice-of-Right-to-Sue, you must file your lawsuit within 90 days. We cannot extend this deadline except when the District Director gives the parties a written notice of intent to reconsider before the deadline for filing a lawsuit. If you don't file in time, you may be prevented from going forward with your lawsuit.

Not sure how that comment quoted your post, I may have clicked the wrong post I placed the comment on. It is irrelevant to your point.

don't like him. He looks like basset hound, is extraordinarily biased and is a turbo Christian.

I am sure you will find a little room to like him. He is very anti-Trump, very pro-establishment.

That is AMAZING. And an apology to boot. Wow. I'd put money on "more to come." He must be a real piec of work. And she must've made sure she had the goods on him. Good for her!

He literally screwed himself with his own words.
Nicely done.

That's funny. He says the same thing about you.

It's hard to care much about a Fox News whore.

She went into that hellhole knowingly.

You know, calling the squeaky clean Carlson a "whore" is a reflection on you rather than on her.

Any journalist who willingly takes money from Fox for pushing Fox lies is a Media whore.

The highest priced hookers would have been a lot cheaper.

And probably a lot more cooperative.

And service guaranteed.
Must have been that power thing that turned him on.

Let's just all agree that hookers are pretty great.

Not if you are a basset hound....

I want to be sexually harassed! I feel so sorry that the poor girl had to go through all this and that Ailes had thrown her out in the cold to go stand in the soup line with no job prospects. The poor thing was probably going to wind up a street hooker without this settlement.

Ha Ha

I hope you were auditioning for a comedian's position.

Very few women who are sexually harassed at work have the public position or the bank account which would allow them to sue a multi-national corporation.

Fox apologized to Carlson too. If there is a non-disclosure clause that accompanied the $20 million, I hope it got its money's worth.

I wish I was still conducting sexual harassment training. This is real, this is a huge problem in big business. You wouldn't believe some of the crap I had to investigate, I even had to investigate my lawyer boss (he was guilty as hell)

My mom had to deal with it. I think it's probably a common thing.

In a bit of extra joy Greta Vansustren is stepping down immediately. Many, many people have suggested she was sexually harassing Gretchen as well.

No mention of these developments on Faux news.

Is Greta a lesbian? If she was sexually harassing other women, that would be an insane news story.
