Jury quickly finds man guilty of pouring boiling water on sleeping gay couple

Re: Man found guilty of poring boiling water on gay sleeping gay couple.

Very highly unlikely, in these kinds of cases patients are placed in medical coma so as to make treating them easier, there was always a very slim chance of dying.

I could be wrong, but that is highly unlikely.

You literally have no idea what you're talking about. Shocker.

Re: Man found guilty of poring boiling water on gay sleeping gay couple.

Why would I stop mentioning that? It is part of the facts involving this case. I don't care if you don't think it matters. It's the reason WHY the asshole poured boiling hot water on them in the first place!

What do you propose he should've gotten? A slap on the wrist?

Why is that?

Why someone transgresses upon another to cause injury should not matter, there is no such thing as a mitigating reason for hurting someone intentionally, except maybe something like to save their lives.

this was worth 15 years tops, but I do now see that Georgia law is some kinda ****ed up:
Aggravated Assault versus Attempted Murder Charges in Georgia

I now need to consider that this sort of abuse is more common in Georgia than I was aware.

Re: Man found guilty of poring boiling water on gay sleeping gay couple.

Certainly a despicable and heinous crime!!!!!!

Most murderers are out in less than 20 years. And if you are an illegal alien, it is measured in months.

Bet you wouldn't say that if it was your mom and dad was the one who got burnt.

Alleged facts not in evidence.

So if my momma and pappa was burnt, I could expect 40 years for the perps?????!?!? Are you NUTS!!!! If the couple was not gay, the perps would not have been given 3-5.
So take your special interest elsewhere.

You mean like the "medically induced coma" you made up. I agree, you have no facts in evidence.

Re: Man found guilty of poring boiling water on gay sleeping gay couple.

40 years for burning one? person is abuse.

Yeah, forty years does seem harsh, but then I'm pretty much always against long ass sentences like this, so..

Funny, I alway's thought always thought conservatives were supposed to be tough on crime. You sound just like a bleeding heart liberal.

Well, if someone got dead maybe....that sir is my point.

The sentence needs to fit to crime, and way too often in America now they dont.

I offered an educated opinion.

Just for that I am going to see if this is a place where I am wrong.

The man was charged with aggravated assault, and aggravated battery, and found guilty. What would you consider an appropriate sentence for such a "minor" crime?

Re: Man found guilty of poring boiling water on gay sleeping gay couple.

no such thing, I simply did not read enough into the case to see if the second person had any major injury, I only read of the one.

Headline says couple.
Just sayin'...

Well, you got the whole touchy freely hate crime bit added on top, so people are all outraged and ****. It's a thing we all have to deal with.

You trust headline writers?

I myself have not for the last 20 years or so.

Wtf is wrong with you? Oh wait. Never mind. I already know.

What we have all to often are sentences handed out on the grounds of emotion.

It is the practice of injustice.

Re: Man found guilty of poring boiling water on gay sleeping gay couple.

attempted murder and inflicting extreme pain on someone for no reason? I wouldn't lose any sleep if the victims took a crowbar to the attacker and broke every bone in the asshole's body

Right the **** on counselor! You nailed it.

Should the motive be considered in the sentence? If the motive is known, I mean. If the crime was a hot-blooded jealousy thing or a cold-blooded bigotry thing, should the sentence be the same either way?

I argue that I am the sane one, all too often the only sane one in the room.

Oh look. Henrin agrees. What a surprise.

Only so far as it contributes to the answer to the question "Did he intend to harm?".
