EXPLOSIVE VIDEO: Malia Obama CAUGHT On Camera Smoking ‘Pot’

It was for medical purposes. Her parents gives her headaches.:lamo

I do think the SS has some explaining to do.

Personally, for me, the issue is not the young lady expanding/challenging her boundaries as a right of passage into adulthood. As with the Bush teenage girls, I can't imagine how difficult it is to be a young person with secret service and other adults around you 24/7 watching your every move. Like most teenagers, I'm sure they would love to have privacy and secrets as we all did growing up.

That said, the issue for me is that of the secret service professionalism and a continuing pattern of lax oversight on the job and in their responsibilities. This type of lapse seems to have occurred on a number of occasions during the Obama administration.

Seems to me, marijuana is not a legal substance in Illinois and unless the secret service procured the bud for her, it's possible she could have been subjected to dangers related to the drug. All is fun and games when nothing bad happens, but some type of medical issue related to this wouldn't have been impossible to imagine. The agents in charge of protecting this young lady should be subject to some discipline, and possibly dismissal.

Under 10 grams is not an arrestable offense.

Can't have her ordering a pizza, now can we?

Medical issues? Please.

If the SS was there as alleged and if she was one of those people who smokes way too much the first time they try it then ends up lying down for an hour feeling uncomfortable, they'd be there to protect her. And as someone pointed out, if they made a big deal of it and carted her off, that would guarantee it ended up in the media. Where the situation doesn't involve any real danger to her, but only the danger that political opponents will try to make hay of it, then they probably made the best decision in the circumstances.

Would suck to have to live your life under a microscope.

No doubt. The kids in those situations have great opportunities for travel and various cultural education that other kids will often never get but they do lose a lot of the "street" education that is equally important.

Well that's what happens when you the Commander in Chief's daughter.

Of course it is, doesn't mean it doesn't suck and it's also not like she had a whole heck of a lot of choice in the matter.

I'm not suggesting anything about anyone being arrested. I was referring to the fact that Illinois is not a pot legal State and so unless the pot was bought in a legal State from a legal outlet and transported to Illinois specifically for Malia's use, it is likely there was/is no way of knowing where it came from or how it might have been processed.

My issue was only related to the health of the young lady, not the legalities of the procurement and/or use. And that assumes, on my part, that Malia had no part in buying or bringing the marijuana to the event - she just took part in enjoying it.

I guess you don't believe the secret service has any responsibilities related to professionalism and the health and safety of those in their care. Why stop at marijuana - let her try a whole host of illegal drugs - alcohol too, while their at it. After all, your only concern appears to be the media finding out about it.

Guess I'm one of those people who expects the secret service to do their ****ing jobs - my bad.

Your "bad" is making a big deal out of the silly idea that her health was somehow at risk and also in acting like the SS doesn't also have the candidate's political interests in mind....

Why mention things that don't appear to have happened?

i didn't care when whatshername Bush got drunk. i also don't care if an Obama teenager smokes a reefer.

Well, an 18 year old with her own secret service detail because her father is POTUS. There is a bit of a distinction there.
The Secret Service isn't there to arrest her. She's at a music festival in a city with decriminalized pot laws. Maybe her dad and mom will get mad but she's old enough to vote and enter the military. I don't see the big issue, certainly nothing of the "shocking" variety.

I personally think the kids should be off limits to the media and the internet unless they consent to be interviewed or photographed or whatever.

If that's really her

Which is another key point. Most people seem to have a doppelganger somewhere in the world. After all, Leonardo DiCaprio appears to be competing in the Olympic archery events...

I've never smoked pot. I'm not against it, just never did it, mostly because I had to take drug tests all the time in my line of work, and I just never really cared to try it.

However, if the Obama's had been my parents, I would probably be dead from heroine overdose by now in an attempt to relieve the pain.[/QUOTE

First, who cares? Pot is a legal for recreational purposes in many places and will be many more in 10 years (probably all forward thinking states)...

Second, you may not like Obama as President, but he appears to have a very nice and loving family... which is more than can be said for the dysfunction of most American families... Why is it that you can not separate your political dislike from a dislike for the person? That seems a bit immature on your part...

Was she on federal land and/or did she cross state lines while smoking the joint?

The feds can't arrest you for smoking pot on state land.
She was in Grant Park, municipal public land owned by the Chicago Park District.
