NSA has Clinton's deleted emails, whistleblower claims

A guy whose been out of the game since 2001...

Look I'd love for this to be true, so the full emails can see the light of day, but it's just not happening. IF the NSA had them at anypoint, they are long gone now.

If the NSA had them, they sure as **** wouldn't see the light of day.

You can't be a whistle blower if you no longer work for the NSA.

It is very likely, however, that there are many copies of Clinton's mailbox floating around out there.

NSA most likely does have them but only as the batch capture of general email traffic they gather. Clinton's emails, after all, were traversing the open internet where NSA casts their nets.

Where is it written that one cannot be a whistleblower if one no longer works for the company?

Oh yeah, here at DP, in this thread, in post #23.

Where is it prescribed that one's whistleblower status expires when one no longer works for the company?

He has no operational knowledge anymore. You can't be a whistle blower on a guess.

Article is light on facts.

....as are most GOP attempts to bury Hillary Clinton in scandal....

If the Republicans would just focus on developing and articulating policy rather than trying to make mountains of Clinton's miscues, they might actually be on the path to the White House. But, just like Trump can't resist that tweat, the Cons can't resist congressional hearings.

So when one stops working for a particular company, one surrenders any knowledge, operational or otherwise, gained over a 20 year career? I don't think so.

One has no access to any potential data collection that would have begun 8 years after you left.

True enough, but having worked there for 20+ years, and having designed the system being used, don't you think he would have a pretty good understanding how the system worked?

15 years later? Nope.

Being a whistleblower requires that you actually know something. He can't possibly know any of this because he wasn't working for the NSA during Clinton's time as SecState.

He left the NSA when a 40GB hard drive was top of the line. I'm going to suggest that his knowledge of mass-surveillance in 2016 is limited.

They've been spying on millions of Americans thanks to Obama. Spying on any is bad, but if Hillary hadn't setup that idiotic server, maybe it wouldn't have happened.

Ummm....they were spying on us long before Obama even got involved in politics.

You can be a whistleblower, after you no longer work there. You could share information about things you worked on, it doesn't all of the sudden become unclassified or irrelevant once you've left. You could also have knowledge about things that would be relevant to after you leave. However, you can't be one talking about stuff you don't know anything about, which he most likely doesn't in this case.

My point was it is 15 years after he had any working knowledge of NSA programs. He most likely has no functional knowledge this far removed, and can't blow the whistle of data mining that would have happened well after his tenure.

I don't disagree, but it's not 15 years, either. It was 15 years to today. The matter didn't happen today, it happened a few years ago.

Spying started under Bush 2...

And of course it would have happened, because if the NSA is spying on everyone, then they would be spying on the governments email servers as well!

The NSA only took over from the FBI who had been spying on politicians since the 40's-50's.

One of his jobs there was to design systems to be employed by NSA. How much closer to "knowledge of mass-surveillance" can one get? And he has several friends who also worked there, and also tried to keep it in the chain of command and exhaust all administrative remedies ya know. Some of them were prosecuted for revealing government misfeasance. You don't know the difference between right and wrong dude.

I just started reading a book/collection of articles from The Nation magazine, with those stories beginning in 1931, and talking about just what you mention. We have walked right into what we have today.

Massive credibility problems.. Fox News and Breibart involved...

But a major problem with the fact that, if the NSA does have the emails, then that means it has been spying on politicians in the US, and that means ALL politicians.. wonder if the GOP would be happy with that fact?

We know the DNC and Hillary aren't.
