Dan Rather on Trump

That being said, Rather isn't all that great of a spokesperson for this, given his hand in the continuing slide of our media as an institution. The media does suck, but it sucks because it is willing to bend fact to meet preferred narratives, and willing to do enormous damage to the country in search of ratings.

Trump exposed how the Goebbels Media works... And when he does this, a few things happen:

1. People who know how The Goebbels Media slants things in favor of The Socialists of Amerika Partei (SAPs) stand up and cheer... And it strengthens their support of Trump.

2. Some folks finally learn... have their eyes opened to the truth about how the Goebbels media deals dirty.

3. The Goebbels Media realizes it can't get away with their BS with this guy, as they'll be called on it... Publicly. It just might reduce the lies... But not likely.

The Kool-Aid Leftists will whine... That's expected. They see their Propaganda Machine taking a hit, and instead of addressing and admitting the fact they are Propagandists, the Kool-Aid Leftists do exactly what you just did... And feebly blame Trump for responding to blatant misrepresentations.

You've joined an odd lot... It's long past due someone stood up to this perversion... had Romney, McCain or Bush 43 done it... We wouldn't have had 8-years of the incompetent called Obama.

Why are anyone of us acting as though Dan Rather is a good/honest/honorable actor in the 4th estate?

His version of ethics is blatantly biased. If Rather were just as eager to follow stories on liberal sacred cows, his opinions would matter.

LOL, the much-ballyhoo'd "Establishment" is rallying behind Trump, who is far more liberal and distasteful than a Romney, McCain, or Dole. It's the Constitutionalists and Ideological Conservatives who make up the #NeverTrump ranks.

But please :) show me my double standard. I can show you LOTS of double standards and hypocrisy among those who spent years (decades) claiming to be conservatives, only to fall in behind a liberal big-government authoritarian. We could trade!

I'll go first: Republicans spent the last three decades claiming that Character Mattered and Adultery Was Bad, and are now lining up to support a thrice-divorced serial liar and adulterer who BRAGS about sleeping with other men's wives, is apparently guilty of fraud, mocks POW's and the disabled, and would be the first POTUS to own a strip club. Now you go! :).

Dan Rather's career was evaporated in one moment when he failed to adequately fact check a report. That incident happened in a day and age few of us can now fathom: when honesty in the public eye was so important and exalted that the most momentary lapse in vigilance could destroy a man's reputation forever. Frankly, that concept is now such an anachronism that even thinking about it is akin to hearing grand-pa talk about the days of the Dust Bowls. If the standard that destroyed Dan Rather was still in place today, Trump would be dragged screaming by demons into the deepest circles of hell.

that's exactly how I feel. I notice Rather didn't say anything about due diligence of journalists in finding out if what they are alleging or printing is true and honest.
