The State Department’s independent watchdog has issued a highly critical analysis of Hillary Clinton’s email practices while running the department, concluding that she failed to seek legal approval for her use of a private email server and that department staff would not have given its blessing because of the “security risks in doing so.”

The inspector general, in a long awaited review obtained Wednesday by The Washington Post in advance of its publication, found that Clinton’s use of private email for public business was “not an appropriate method” of preserving documents and that her practices failed to comply with department policies meant to ensure that federal record laws are followed.

The report says Clinton, who is the Democratic presidential front-runner, should have printed and saved her emails during her four years in office or surrendered her work-related correspondence immediately upon stepping down in February 2013. Instead, Clinton provided those records in December 2014, nearly two years after leaving office.

The report found that a top Clinton aide was warned in 2010 that the system may not properly preserve records but dismissed those worries, indicating that the system passed legal muster. But the inspector general said it could not show evidence of a review by legal counsel.

I want Hillary to explain this away...

Course if you read the entire article it goes on to state secure handling of certain materials has been spotty for years. The report is also quite critical of Colin Powell but some of we seem to ignore/'miss/ use partisan blinders while skimming over that part... :peace

I really get tired of "well he did it too!"

It was during Powell's tenure that OpenNet first became available though, apparently, the system at that time didn't allow for long term electronic records preservation. While Powell (and his staff) should have printed and saved their emails there is no indication that classified information was sent through personal accounts. Clinton, on the other hand, opted not to use department system at all. This decision was made 5 years after Powell left the position and well after email became a necessity rather than an option.

I can understand your 'tiredness', howsomever fact is THE REPORT IN THE OP was highly critical of Colin Powell... this ain't a 'well he did it too' it is QUOTING the SAME report that some think is 'highly' critical of Hillary... :doh

FYI OpenNet COULD 'allow' long term storage- that ability has been available for decades prior to Powell's term in the State dept- they simply chose not to, I guess incorrectly thinking hard copies would be maintained. The pattern wasn't who used what new technology- but the State dept long history of spotty record keeping...

I'm really getting tired of only partisan partial reading of reports by a few blinder wearing people... :peace

The report did more than that . It made public a certain e-mail exchange between Hillary and Huma that proves she tried to lie her way out of this scandal

She created the server for convenience, remember ?

The article never mentions any such exchange... where was that?

FYI the exchange between Luther and i was over his partisan attempt to paint Hillary as the only one criticized in the report as some above the law politician...

remember???? :peace

Do you even read the stuff you link? It talks about her concern over PERSONAL emails- not classified. She has every right to be considered about keeping personal stuff just that.. :doh

I don't think this was any part of the 'report' so it didn't come out as part of the OP...

do try to put down the partisanship... :peace

Sure I read the link, did you ? Apparently not.

State department employees were having problems receiving Emails from Clinton.

Huma suggested she use a Govt Email account. Hillary said no, because she didn't want anyone to access her personal emails

How would anyone gain access to her personal emails if they were on a Govt server?

She admitted setting up the server to circumvent FOIA, not because she wanted the convience of using one device

She's a bald face liar and you dont get to decide what gets posted here. If it contradicts your Hillary obsession then too bad.

If you dont like it stop supporting and defending low lifes

Laughing, I'm not the one with a Hillary obsession. Hillary wanted a separate address for her 'business' email to keep her personal stuff personal. She had requested 'obama' blackberries but was denied them by the NSA.

Now, given the numerous hacks, leaks and outright thief of government emails (Snowden ring a bell?) you can't think her worry wasn't unfounded...

I can see where she didn't want any comments she makes in emails being used later like the comments some state dept people made about European leaders during the Snowden revelations.

Keep up the whiny right partisan crap fest... :peace

Well, Colin Powell didn't use his own private, in-home email server to conduct 100% of his state department business, nor did he decide which of his emails would become part of the public record, and which would not.

Two wrong don't make a right....

I think Hillary created the server in her home to avoid her email being read by others. No other SOS had done that. So comparing Hillary to Rice or Powell who didn't have a home bound server to hide their emails from the public is apples and oranges....What other reason would there be?
