I don't understand why not. They would make a great team and Trump would be a shoe in to get the GOP nomination.

Cruz is going nowhere. Even if there is a brokered convention, its highly unlikely he would get the nod.

Trump thinks he can get enough delegates, but can next to guarantee it if Cruz drops out.

Cruz endorses Trump and asks all his supporters to vote Trump.

Trump announces him as his vice president after he gets the nomination.

They beat Clinton easily and take up residence in the White House.

What a great deal for both of them.

What could go wrong?

This was my hope [after realizing Trump would be the front-runner] all along.

Trump could do four years and Cruz eight.

Jesus - one of them, alone, would need someone statesman like and presentable to make them a viable candidate for the public. Put them on the same ticket and every sane American will race to the polls to vote for Hillary Clinton.

I think it's uncouth for anyone to ask or suggest that the primary rival to Trump consider a V.P. slot. Of course he's going to deny it for one and it's just bad manners. I hated it when Hillary when she said Obama could be her V.P.

They aren't particularly close on many issues. Trump has spent the last few months pretty viciously attacking him. And Cruz doesn't really seem like the type to want a VP role anyway. I don't see the upside for him.

It'll be Trump/Kasich. Cruz doesn't have the governing chops for VP (or POTUS for that matter).

Trump has supported multiple liberal positions, donated money to multiple liberal and establishment politicians and praised those politicians. Trump's positions changes with the wind. I can't imagine why Cruz would not want to be Trump's vp.

While he still thinks he has a chance to be the bride he is not going to say that being the bridesmaid is fine.

Who knows what the truth is.

And who knows what he will decide if it becomes clear to him that he will not be the R nominee. Right now he clearly thinks that the establishment might overrule the voters, might have the power to do so, and that he might be their guy. I dont think so on either count, but I am sometimes wrong.

Would it really be overruling the voters if Trump doesn't get a majority of delegates? There are very good reasons for not simply going with the plurality.

Trump's vp choice is going to be out of the box thinking

Just like everything else has been this election cycle

My original thought was Fiorina...which is still possible

But now I am learning toward, and I do hope I am wrong, but Chris Christie....

I think he will be Trump's choice.....

Has nothing to do with what states he might help with....

It has everything to do with what goes against what the elite ruling GOP want him to do

Just my guess....wouldn't bet my life on it.....but it has possibilities

It's likely that Trump has offered or dangled the VP slot in front of Christie and/or Carson. There's no other reason for either of them to come out in favour of Trump, but they did.

Wouldn't surprise me if slime like Trump has dangled it in front of several people who've offered him support - backing out of a handshake deal is second nature to Trump.

If Trump wants someone close to him on the issues as his VP, he'd choose Hillary Clinton. Or, considering his penchant for younger women, maybe Chelsey Clinton.

Cruz is very ambitious. "The half of loaf better than one" reason may be all he needs.

For out of the box thinking he migh go with Condi Rice. She's inexplicably popular with Republicans. Of course she's shown time and again that she's not interested in politics any longer. I think something in the WhiteHouse affected her badly.

Cruz is way too prideful to be second-place to Trump. I'm thinking it's more than likely Christie, if he wants to level the playing field. However, if he isn't looking to do that then it really could be anybody. This includes randos outside of politics! I have considered the likelyhood of him picking a Kardashian *Shudders*

I believe Christie has been offered the VP spot and his endorsement is proof. He's finished in NJ and has got nothing to lose. Trump obviously admires his bullying tactics and his governorship gives his campaign cred. They are both going down in flames.

I don't see it. Cruz doesn't seem the type to be somebody's no. 2. He has more control of his message as a Senator. Taking the VP slot to Trump would really hurt him with his base of conservative voters for his next run.

i wondered what Christie was offered or promised. he has been following Trump around sniffing his farts and grinning.

Just like Colin Powell they both said nix after stints near the top. I really liked both of them, and thought both would make great politicians, but some people have too much class to roll around in the dirt and the muck

Too bad....we lose a lot of good candidates that way.....

And what the press does to your family....unreal....

AMEN to that, but don't forget with Trump he could do anything. SO I'm looking outside of politics for his potential VP picks.

The angle I think of it though is , what does Cruz bring to the table for Trump. Trump has been doing better with Hispanics than Cruz has. Trump was second in Texas so if Cruz isn't in the general election I think Trump has just as good of a chance vs Hillary in Texas as Cruz would.
