A Texas mayor has called for local and federal investigations after a black and red banner, with a message written in Arabic, mysteriously appeared on a government building just after Valentine’s Day.
Police said the banner was spotted Monday morning when workers arrived at Citizens Tower, a building currently under construction in downtown Lubbock, not far from the Texas Panhandle. The banner was draped down the side of the tower, which is set to become Lubbock’s new city hall.
The Arabic message reads, “Love for everyone.”
The banner has since been taken down, but it remains unclear who put it up — and why.

OK, that's a pretty funny way to make a point.

If the response to that banner doesn't prove the existence of Islamophobia in the US, I don't know what does. Christ, there are smartphone apps out there that can translate words and phrases *on the fly.* All these guys had to do was download one and use it. That would have taken mere seconds. But nope, can't do that, because TEXAS! and 'MURICA!

I fear that being a Muslim in America may soon be like being a Communist in America in the early 50's.

I thought America had grown past this nonsense.

Sadly no.

Were I the mayor...I would have ordered that the banner stay for the duration of construction.

It's a wonderful message.

Would it be OK with the Arabs if the sign was in Hebrew? I seriously doubt it.

And would it be okay with Martians if the sign was in Venusian?

Who cares...it's a great message.

Islamophobia is a rational and healthy attitude to have.

Lol.

I assume that is what Hitler said about anti-Semitism.

Yeah...and doughnuts are a rational and healthy food to eat when you are fat and your resting blood pressure is 160/100.

Maybe if you lived a little closer to Ft. Hood you may have a different perspective. Also, how do I type that message into my iPhone?

Irrational hatred and ignorance..
Yeah, this irrational hatred, ignorance and violence is becoming commonplace everywhere. What do you suppose can be done about it?

A Texas mayor speaks for all of the United States?

Are you quite certain you're not in Yurp?

There's some irony with your post. (Because of the stereotype of typical iPhone users and all. ;) )

P.S. The app that I was thinking about doesn't even require typing. It just uses the phone's camera and superimposes in English (or whatever other language it can support) the words from the other language.

I don't have it any more because it was super-buggy at the time, but if I find out it is working well now I may try to find it again.

didnt the like message, responds with....

You damn betcha. We each have our favourite flavour of intolerance and mine is bigots. You see the phrase, 'Love for everyone', but because it's written in Arabic you reply with some snide, sophomoric cheap-shot bilge. Hey, you're entitled, and so am I. Expect to be called on your bigotry every time I step in it.

You're losing your focus, laddybuck. Straying around on the map. We're talking here about you beaking off about sawing off heads because a nice valentines message was written in Arabic script.
