The mysterious Arabic message that alarmed a Texas town? ‘Love for everyone.’

oh, go away

Not likely. I never did before, and I've done this lots of times.
That crap (you know, that bigotry thing) might get nods and grunts of approval down where you work and over the fence in the trailer park but if you bring it to a forum like this, us being pretty cosmopolitan and all, you can be sure to get fed back.

Not gunna lie but they chose a bad color scheme...

I mean, if it was a pink flag it probably wouldn't have ticked so many people off :)

OK, that's a pretty funny way to make a point.

But it was written in scary letters!

Why not just use english in the first place? It was just a huge troll and all the usual self righteous chest puffers jumped all over it.

If the response to that banner doesn't prove the existence of Islamophobia in the US, I don't know what does. Christ, there are smartphone apps out there that can translate words and phrases *on the fly.* All these guys had to do was download one and use it. That would have taken mere seconds. But nope, can't do that, because TEXAS! and 'MURICA!

Some people just don't want anything to **** up the big hate they got going.

This post gets my vote for the saddest and most ridiculous post of the week.
Here's one that's even sadder.

The Arabic script was the whole point of it. Can you really not see that?

The point of the troll, yes. Would you post something in Arabic knowing that maybe .1% would be able to translate it? They wanted a negative reaction and they got it. And the PC lemmings fell right into line, didn't they?

Yes, if I had that point to make. Can you still not get it? The message, written in Arabic, was the whole point.

Yeah, they got it. A negative reaction, I mean. That was the whole point- it was a message of love but it was received as a threat before it was even translated because it was in Arabic script. The conservative lemmings fell right into line.
I can't believe you don't get the point of the demonstration. I think you're just refusing to acknowledge it.

You can get a sense of humor from a smartphone?

FFS, you hit that one dead on. It is hard to maintain the stance that all Arabs are terrorists if you have to admit at least one of them had a sense of humor. for that matter, I have a funny felling whoever did this isn't a practicing anything other than how easy it was to snag everyone'

I fear that being a Muslim in America may soon be like being a Communist in America in the early 50's.

You think?

I thought America had grown past this nonsense.

Sadly no.

Unfortunately, the racial divide has grown almost as much as the equity divide.

Were I the mayor...I would have ordered that the banner stay for the duration of construction.

It's a wonderful message.

I would have left it up, too. The alternative: It could have been an ISIS flag. It's nice to see that for once no one of Middle-Eastern decent (assuming it was an Arab/Muslim who did it) wasn't spouting "Death to America!"

whoosh right over your head

colour me "NOT" surprised

here's a piece of advice that I know you won't take...if you want to act superior and condescending, you actually have to have a modicum of understanding so that you don't appear to be lacking intellectually

modicum can also be googled, which apparently is a stretch for your skill set level.

you might be the first to make my "ignore" list in this place

Islamophobia is a rational and healthy attitude to have.

Considering you are more likely to be killed by a white, black, or hispanic person at OVERWHELMING ODDS than an Islamic person in America...... Its not really a healthy attitude to have.

lol, my "bigotry" is noticing "the religion of peace" is violent, murderous and misogynistic

All 3 Abrahamic religions have gone through violent, murderous, and misogynistic periods.
