The mysterious Arabic message that alarmed a Texas town? ‘Love for everyone.’

Only one is going through that now.

All 3 Abrahamic religions have gone through violent, murderous, and misogynistic periods.

Exactly. There's a lot of that there. Wish that embarassment of a state would secede.

You are wrong about Texas and you are acting in a bigoted way. You are entitled to your idiotic opinion of course.

Not gunna lie but they chose a bad color scheme...

I mean, if it was a pink flag it probably wouldn't have ticked so many people off :)

Ugh, a red heart on a black background with some white letters? I definitely associate all of that with... Harley Quinn? Playing cards? Planes flying into buildings? I hope that you'll eventually come to the conclusion that the scary writing in a strange language was what set off the alarms and not its color scheme.

If the response to that banner doesn't prove the existence of Islamophobia in the US, I don't know what does. Christ, there are smartphone apps out there that can translate words and phrases *on the fly.* All these guys had to do was download one and use it. That would have taken mere seconds. But nope, can't do that, because TEXAS! and 'MURICA!

You have to know the language to know the letters. That language isn't Latin based. I don't see any letters, and I don't have characters like that on my laptop to type them in for translation. You have to hire someone to translate.

love in the quran is not what we in the west consider love. it's the 'i'm honor killing you because i love you' kind of love.

This statement is so full of ****.

I see you ignore everything else.

Tell me then, Grant, why did you bring terrorism into a thread that has nothing to do with terrorism????

I doubt you have the stones to answer the question, because it exposes you for the bigot you are.

Yes.

But to act as if one religion is better than the other, or more "righteous" or whatever you religious types think.

Organized religion is the greatest tool ever invented for the control of population size........ that goes for all religions.

A black flag with white Arabic writing and a graphic.

The above describes both this "valentines" flag and the ISIS flag.

This was obviously a troll just as was previously mentioned. Hanging a black banner (flag) with white Arabic writing from a State government building under current conditions is just baiting knee jerks.

It's a sucker punch.

It's doing something you know is provocative and then playing dumb when people react the way you expected them to.

It is trolling.

Agreed with every sentence except possibly the next-to-last one. But trolling is, in general, free speech, something that apparently some people do not understand.

Most understand free speech when it's not in Arabic.

Or more specifically, it's in English and it doesn't threaten The Way Things Ought To Be.

I do not think it should be illegal. Free speech also means I can publicly and vocally say when I think something is stupid.

How it ended up on a government building is a little sticky though...

Well sure, there could be a question of how the people got up there in the first place! But I think we can agree that that wasn't what the hysteria was all about.

Don't know what that has to do with the Arabic sign but things ought to be in a familiar language if you want to get your message across.

There was no 'hysteria'.

There was no 'hysteria'.

But there was knee jerk reaction by some to equating it with Terrorism without even knowing the meaning behind the words.

Including people whose very first post on this thread was to post pictures of terrorists doing terrorist things (which got removed by mods).

I have little doubt that this action was designed to produce that knee jerk reaction.

It proves two things. That many Americans can be tricked into being outraged when they shouldn't, and that the people who did it are assholes.

I am personally so sick of the PC "gotcha"/outrage script.

Oh I agree it was total trolling.

I think every person in America needs to be forced to do this at a young age to condition them to this ****..... Because most forms of trolling is protected by the 1st Amendment.... And those who respond to it are protected as well..... however if you don't feed them, they will go away.

The people who got outraged fed the trolls..... and they will be back.

...because no one in Texas has any Arabic friends to translate it for them.

True for most. People on the street are not required to roam the streets looking for someone to translate graffiti for them.

Life lesson #101: Don't put your trashy messages on other people's property. If you don't have property to put your messages on, spend more time doing something productive instead of running around putting messages on other people's property.
