FCC rules you can get cable through apple, google, amazon, and android

Google has already wired several cities with 1000 (?) Gigabyte speeds for less than what cable companies are charging for far inferior speeds. I believe they also are testing blimps and low level satellites to provide Internet access. Apple should be doing this as well they have the cash.

If they are open to other companies using and paying for use, that is a good thing.

More of a reason that encrypted networks will be on the increase. Fear of Govt, criminals will make the demand viable for personal users to companies.

Running fiber optic is pricey - perhaps we will see transmitters or such muck like cell towers with WiFi logins.Costs shared between companies, who knows Not sure if it is even possible.

The city of Longmont is installing fiber to the home for everyone in town, 1Gbps for $50/mo. Costs half as much as Comcast and it's more than five times as fast.

Obama's been more successful at spreading Jihad and Jihadists than even the Mullahs of Iran.

Trying to turn NASA into a Muslim outreach center was a little strange but then he went onto the ME

Destabilizing Iraq, drawing pretend Red lines in Syria and making sure Iran has plenty of cash so they can continue being the worlds leading sponsor of State terror
Of-course he has a hidden agenda.

Wish people would wake up.

Could have sworn bush invaded Iraq liberating a majority Shia population oppressed by a minority Sunni population.

Could have sworn most Iranian assets (their money) was held by European countries.

What the hell does this have to do with cable boxes?

LOL. It's a involuntary reflex with some people. No matter what the thread is about. Obama bad.

Anyway I've had DirecTV for about 15 years now. I still have them, but just the basics, which cost about $50 a month. I can live with that. But yeah they charge $7 a month for these boxes. Once this passes that'll cut $14 a month off my bill.

Awhile back I was looking around for alternatives to DirecTV, and I 'think' I saw a $10 package from Time Warner. It was just a couple of cable channels, and then all the local channels in my area. The total was 15 channels or so. That's a good idea and a nice deal.

If the cable and Satellite companies are smart they should do more of that. They need to offer TRUE(no hidden BS costs to drive the prices up) $10, $20, $30 packages. And maybe let the customer pick 3-4 channels for each package.

They need to do something, because more and more people I know are moving away from cable and satellite.

FCC Rules You Can Get Cable Through Apple, Google, Amazon, and Android | Nerdist

And it looks like the FCC has continued to build on its consumer based policies, like net neutrality, by promoting competition amongst the internet and cable providers. It is a good thing that elections have consequences. Although as we all know, when liberals attempt to promote competition amongst businesses, they are acting like socialists.

net neutrality is not a liberal principle. a liberal principle would allow the government to control the internet complete with stiffing regulation.

Conservatives are pro-business and would allow corporate monopoly over the internet. A monopoly would kill off competitors which in turn kills innovation...and charge high fees for access, slow or block content...and provide lousy service.

how do you get from "pro-business" to "would allow corporate monopoly over the internet"?

Some people just don't understand the words coming out of their own mouths, or in this case, from their fingers.

thats what i love about this site lol

Republicans are trying to block net neutrality legislation that helps prevents corporate monopoly over access to the internet and hurt small competitors and consumers.

again, that bolded part is someone's opinion. i hear different reports, dont be surprised if you are disappointed with the results of the law.

I said net neutrality was a consumer based policy - not a liberal or conservative policy. It places more power and control with the individual consumers over the companies providing the internet services.

Yah, liberal principles are what you think they are, rather than what liberals actually do and try to do.
