Despite the growing threat from the self-proclaimed Islamic State in Libya, the Obama administration has turned down a U.S. military plan for an assault on ISIS’s regional hub there, three defense officials told The Daily Beast.

In recent weeks, the U.S. military—led by its Africa and Special Operations Commands—have pushed for more airstrikes and the deployment of elite troops, particularly in the city of Sirte. The hometown of former Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, the city is now under ISIS control and serving as a regional epicenter for the terror group.
The airstrikes would target ISIS resources while a small band of Special Operations Forces would train Libyans to eventually be members of a national army, the officials said.

It is beginning to look as though Obama had a hidden agenda and strategy that he does not communicate.

Now why would Obama want to target his allies?

Now why would Obama want to target his allies?

This one cracks me up!! One of the very few times during his presidency that he told the truth!!

Maybe Obama doesn't want to create civilian casualties and push people to ISIS. Does anyone have an idea on how to target 5,000 specific individuals in a city of 80,000?

They are already living under ISIS? If you used that logic during WW2 then there would not of been bombing raids on Germany because it "pushed people to Nazism" *sigh*.

If someone had used that logic during ww2, they would have lacked a fundamental understanding of Nazism. How 'bout instead of a bull**** analogy, you tell me why you think bombing peoples homes won't drive up support for ISIS,

The U.S. has already done just about everything to support ISIS in Libya. The U.S. removed Gaddafi, gave weapons to rebels, and eliminated all opposition. Obama is a Muslim after all.

How about instead of worrying about possible civilian casualties which are the byproduct of any war, we remind the rest of the world that we still have the most advanced and capable military out there? Bombing may not be the answer as its difficult to target a small population hiding inside a larger one but if you send troops in and take control back it sends a message. Sometimes you gotta flex nuts so to speak. The alternative is to keep letting it grow and gain control and eventually they bring the fight here.

They already live under ISIS! They abide by their rule of law so did Germans under Nazism. Typical communist defending sharia.

But the biggest support, if we can call it that, was removing the troops from Iraq. That left the door wide open.

The odd thing is that while the American (and Coalition) troops were there the argument from the left was that it was "All About Oil". Now that it actually is 'all about oil', and its financing of international terrorism, that rallying cry has largely disappeared.

Because it might put them on a hit list?

History will show that the continued bombing of Nazis discouraged the movement completely. The German people are peaceful now to the point of docility. The same is true of the Japanese, btw.

Has the "very" far right so distanced itself from fact that people subscribing to its beliefs honestly believe that Obama supports a terrorist organization so evil that it crucifies other terrorists for not being extreme enough?

It was bad enough to hear 40% of polled GOPers claiming that Obama was not born in the US and was a secret muslim, and another 20% being "not sure".

But.....really?

Because you disagree with his political beliefs?

Madison was right: "faction" is a fatal poison for representative democracy.

"Carpet bomb them," apparently....

Perhaps the ideas is that all 1,500,000,000-2,000,000,000 muslims worldwide are second class humans, therefore, might as well be terrorists?

Whoops.. How about that? An media and the Obama is easy on Muslims because he is one is wrong, yet again. You'd think that crowd would learn not to listen to the right wing haters in the media, but they never seem to learn.

This could use some clarification.
Yes, I think the tin foil hat is messing with his reception or something. Ah, the modern world, still having technical difficulties.

It is perfectly reasonable to think that the US government funds terrorist organisations to overthrow governments they dislike and to create chaos in areas they want.

lol, i like the way you put that out there.

That would seem to be the case. Obama was silent on the thousands of Christians murdered by the Islamists but did say in the UN that "The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of islam"..What do you make of that?

Why did he participate in the murder of Gadaffi?

Why get rid of Mubarak?

Why remove the troops from Iraq?

"Islam has a proud tradition of tolerance,... is not part of the problem in combating violent extremism – it is an important part of promoting peace,... “America and Islam are not exclusive and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles of justice and progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.” In his Ramadan message in 2009 Obama said that Islam has played a key “role in advancing justice, progress, tolerance, and the dignity of all human beings.”

You buy any of that?
