Unbelievable – Ted Cruz Campaign Sends Out Personal “Shaming Letters” To Iowa Voters…

Re: Unbelievable – Ted Cruz Campaign Sends Out Personal “Shaming Letters” To Iowa Vot

What is scummy is the very Republican Governor and Secretary of State were fine with the tactic being used in his re-election bid in 2014. Now because the Cruz campaign used it whom the governor has came out publically against Cruz, somehow it is now wrong. And no one was being "threatened". The information on the mailer is public record. And if you read the entire mailer it is obvious it is to motivate people to do their civil duty and get out and vote. You may not care for the tactic. That's fair. But to have the Governor's Secretary of State express his self-righteous indignation over something he was fine with 2 years ago, now that is what I call scummy.
I concur, the Governers behavior in particular has been reprehensible. That just doesn't excuse this.

Re: Unbelievable – Ted Cruz Campaign Sends Out Personal “Shaming Letters” To Iowa Vot

Holy crap. I can't believe the Cruz campaign actually did this. Republicans in Iowa, whose votes he desperately needs, are pissed.

Chalk up a landslide primary win for Trump.

Article is here.

Trump decided to skip the one and only debate Iowa put on though, so I'm not sure it is going to turn out that way.

I think Rubio, Carson, and Paul are going to see some gains because of this

What was the order for "second choice" in the Register poll?

Re: Unbelievable – Ted Cruz Campaign Sends Out Personal “Shaming Letters” To Iowa Vot

More than that. From what I have heard, they are more motivated to vote now than last time, and it will be for Trump. LOL.

From what I recall another used a variant, not as ignorant as Cruz did, and increased his votes.

Myself I think Trump will gain from not attending.

Trump was still in Iowa. He held a huge rally there while the debates were going on.

Re: Unbelievable – Ted Cruz Campaign Sends Out Personal “Shaming Letters” To Iowa Vot

That's a good possibility.

How can Cruz not see that doing this will piss people off?

And encourage them to vote for Trump.

Junk mail has always been one of my biggest pet-peeves.

It's Cruz's nature to piss people off. He doesn't have a real friend in DC, and now he has far fewer in Iowa. He should just go back to Texas.... and, do whatever they do there in Texas.

Re: Unbelievable – Ted Cruz Campaign Sends Out Personal “Shaming Letters” To Iowa Vot

And I still don't see that it's a big deal. I can say something is a violation of the US Constitution, and that doesn't mean I'm speaking on behalf of the US Justice Department.
And if you pull someone in a car over pretending to be an officer, you'll be sent to jail.

Acting as an official representative of the government on something in which you are not an official representative of the government is scummy. It doesn't matter who does it, it's scummy.

So you think this is a crime? Then how come nobody was arrested?

If you pull someone over and claim to be a police officer, it's a crime because it's against the law to impersonate a police officer. Nobody was impersonating the Secretary of State of Iowa. The mailing piece didn't even imply it was from the Secretary of State of Iowa. So it isn't even in the same hemisphere as pretending to be a police officer.

Who said it was a crime? I said it was scummy.

Exactly, because citizens should have trust that those who act as government representatives actually are government representatives. Do you really not see the relation between the two?

Nobody was impersonating the Secretary of State of Iowa. The mailing piece didn't even imply it was from the Secretary of State of Iowa. So it isn't even in the same hemisphere as pretending to be a police officer.
I cannot say I'm surprised you asked a question and refuse to listen to an answer. All you are doing is arguing against a bunch of things no one has claimed. If you would spend more time comprehending what people said and less time arguing against things never said, it would save both of us quite a bit of time.

No, I don't see the relation. That was pretty clear in my post. Cruz isn't pretending to be the Secretary of State of Iowa, so it has nothing to do with someone pretending to be a police officer.

You're the one who brought up a crime/criminal penalty (going to jail for impersonating a police officer), not me.

Re: Unbelievable – Ted Cruz Campaign Sends Out Personal “Shaming Letters” To Iowa Vot

No, I don't see the relation.
Of course you don't, because you never wanted to in the first place.

Here, I'll say it more simply. Trying to pass yourself off as a representative of the government when you are not is scummy. Whether you are claiming a "Voting Violation" on a document you intentionally create to look official or you are impersonating a police officer, trying to make people think you are an official representative of the government when you are not is scummy.

I'm sure you still won't get this because you don't want to, but you still not understanding is a you problem.

Cruz isn't pretending to be the Secretary of State of Iowa
But his mailer was definitely trying to look official, in hopes of scaring voters to go to the caucuses. Even you cannot refute that.

You're right, I didn't see it. I still don't see it. You compare this with a crime (impersonating a police officer). I don't. Nobody impersonated anyone. You can argue that to yourself all day long. I have no interest in comparing things that don't compare. And Cruz wasn't trying to pass himself off as anything. Just as I am not trying to pass myself off as a representative of the Justice Department if I say something is a violation of the Constitution.

Of course it was designed to scare voters into going to the caucuses. I never said otherwise, so what point are you trying to make?

Re: Unbelievable – Ted Cruz Campaign Sends Out Personal “Shaming Letters” To Iowa Vot

My guess is that the people who got these in the mail won't be supporting Mr Cruz.

Exactly. It's one of those, "What the hell was he thinking?" moments.

Rubio is going to win. Hillary is toast. America rejoices.

This is why one should stay out of the "prediction" game.

No, I'm comparing it with someone acting as a representative of the government. I've only said this many times. If you still don't see it, then it's a you problem.

Nobody impersonated anyone.
The mailer "impersonated" an official notice. Which, much like a person impersonating an officer, is scummy. It has nothing to do with legalities, but rather ethics.

I have no interest in comparing things that don't compare.
Correction, you have no interest in discussing anything which you have, for whatever reason, deemed damaging to your ego. Big difference.

And Cruz wasn't trying to pass himself off as anything.
The mailer was. You cannot refute that.

You are so all over the place and your posts are as whiny as they get. Your last sentence there said a mouthful about you. I don't even know where you're going with all of this, and frankly, I don't care. Wallow in your anger about Cruz by yourself...k?

Re: Unbelievable – Ted Cruz Campaign Sends Out Personal “Shaming Letters” To Iowa Vot

You are so all over the place
No, I am not. I have been very clear multiple times in answering your question. You simply choose not to understand it, which is, of course, your choice, but it does not reflect well.

and your posts are as whiny as they get.
That doesn't even make sense. At all.

Your last sentence there said a mouthful about you.
I don't doubt it, I've never been one to hold the hand of those who are incapable of processing more than one thought at a time. I've been quite upfront about it for a long time.

If you still don't understand the point, if you still don't understand the answer to your question, then it is a you problem. I have explained it multiple times.

I don't even know where you're going with all of this, and frankly, I don't care.
Your five quoted responses to my posts indicates otherwise.

Wallow in your anger about Cruz by yourself...k?
Who said anything about anger? Once more, you are arguing against something not said. Perhaps you'd understand things better if you'd debate what is actually said, rather than things which are not?
