Miami Doctor suspended after video of her attacking Uber driver goes viral

1) neurologists dont do brain surgery
2) I've seen plenty of docs drunk off their asses doing pretty inappropriate things, especially when we were residents. It doesnt necessarily impact their medical practice, and frankly, the nuttiest guy I ever met would be my go-to guy if I ever needed spinal surgery.

I don't like where things like this are leading.

The police should have taken care of the incident if there was anything to take care of.

Why would an employer give consequences to anything that did not happen at the job?

Yes there might be a few people that come in and say "Hey I saw you on Youtube" but other than that how does this affect her work?

ROTFL. this entire thread is hilarious, do now we deny the caste system in India?

Okay first of all, you talked about the hispanic caste system because despite the fact it was entirely clear she was of Indian descent, you invoked that anyway.

Secondly, the Indian Caste system still exists in India, but it is much less prevalent in major cities and among highly educated Indians than it used to be and for her ancestors to immigrate theirs a higher possibility they would need to be from a city and relatively well educated and had a bit of cash.

Thirdly we have no idea how many generations she is in terms of immigration, statistically she's more likely to be a second generation immigrant but it's doubtful she's EVER even heard of the caste system and what it entails.

She's just a drunk moron who did something incredibly stupid and obnoxious.

I don't know. That was pretty extreme. I would be surprised if that was a one-time thing. If I am wrong, and she is a good doctor and has good inter-personal relationships at work then yeah, her punishment should probably be something short of termination. But it might turn out this is indicative of her personality at work and they will use this as a reason to get rid of her.

Does your belief in a "just us" system apply if a patient were to strike that doctor too? Somehow, if the tables were turned and the "good" doctor was assaulted at her workplace by a (very drunk?) taxi driver, I doubt you (or the police) would decide to let it slide based on that type of (documented) behavior being a rare thing for the taxi driver.

your final sentence is correct.

you imply that the hispanic caste system doesnt exist and that patently isnt true

second or third gens are very much influenced by parents or grand parents, I know them although that gets complicated as I know a third gen Iranian that hates anything Iranian.

This is what I was thinking but,....

https://lastnames.myheritage.com/last-name/Ramkissoon

She does look Indian.

She may be Indian AND trinidadian.

Many East Indians were brought to Trinidad and Tobago as well as Guyana to work as indentured servants by the British in hte 1800s. A lot of the country is of East Indian descent.

But I know people like her. Her dad is probably a doctor, she was smart but not smart enough to go to a US med school, so Daddy dropped a couple hundred grand to send her to med school in the Caribbean. She was smart enough to pass her exams, but not smart enough to get into a good residency, so she chose Neurology, where she plans on getting married to another doctor and working part time for the rest of her career.

She is not ****ing hispanic so what the ****ing crap does that have to do with anything?

I happened to see this on Reddit a day or two ago, and it looks like someone finally identified the perp.

Miami Doctor suspended after video of her attacking Uber driver goes viral

A doctor for Jackson Health System has been placed on administrative leave after a YouTube video of her hitting and screaming profanities at an Uber driver went viral, a hospital spokeswoman confirmed in a statement.

Anjali Ramkissoon, a fourth-year neurology resident, was ”removed from all clinical duties.”

“Jackson has launched an internal investigation,” the statement reads. “The outcome of the investigation will determine whether any disciplinary action will be taken, up to and including termination.”

The video of Sunday’s incident in the Brickell area was posted Jan. 19 by someone who uses the YouTube account Juan Cinco. It had been viewed more than 500,000 times by Thursday evening. In the video, Ramkissoon, wearing short white shorts and a long-sleeved orange shirt, can be seen hitting an Uber driver in the face.

Man - this kind of thing happens and the internet comes crashing down on your head. Sure she's a drunk, obnoxious, privledged person who would have been booked on charges if she was male (or shot if she was a black male, amiright?), but I dont think someone should get railroaded out of a career for a bad night.

I see a presidential run in her future.

My roommate from college is a doctor. I went to a few of their parties. I don't want to go to doctors anymore lol.
