Police investigate death of teen shot by dad

The man, believing his 14-year-old son was at school, fatally shot the boy in the neck when he mistook him for an intruder at their East Price Hill home Tuesday morning.

This happened 2 days ago... Did you hear about it ? What a tragedy :(

Huge tragedy. But the father is a total idiot. He violated at least two rules of basic gun safety and if there's a law against negligent discharge then he ought to be charged for that at least. I fully support the 2nd amendment but I am all for the prosecution of careless people who fire their guns before they think.

Agreed. It's this kind of trigger-happy moron who gives fuel to the "ban all guns" mob. Identifying the target before shooting is not the ****ing difficult.

Yes, it's a tragedy. But, nothing more. It has no political significance.

It's every bit as much as tragedy as the parent who is talking on a cell phone, runs a red light and get's t-boned by a truck, killing her infant in the backseat.

Negligence, to some extent, is usually a factor in all these "tragedies."

But, people are human, after all.

So what rules did he violate?
why did the kid not come through the front door?
why did the kid not tell his dad he was in the house?

I see this for what it was a tragedy and no jury would convict this guy over this.
He has suffered enough punishment.

So what rules did he violate?

He violated rules 3 and 4- keeping his finger off the trigger until he has identified the target and knowing where the target is.

why did the kid not come through the front door?
So if your son doesnt go through the front door he deserves to die?

why did the kid not tell his dad he was in the house?
So if your son doesnt tell you he's in the house it's ok to kill him?

He should be prosecuted for negligent or unlawful discharge at least. It was his carelessness that killed his son. I have no sympathy for a John McClane wannabe.
