A leader of ISIS learned the hard way this week that Twitter may not be a future option for attempting to reach out to fellow Muslims for his international jihad.

Earlier this week, ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi issued a call for Muslims worldwide to join his drive for an international caliphate.

Anti-oppression activist Iyad El-Baghdadi translated portions of the speech and posted them to Twitter, including one quote from al-Baghdadi reading: “ISIS leaders: We urgently call upon every Muslim to join the fight, especially those in the land of the two shrines (Saudi Arabia), rise.”

Another example of Muslims publicly separating themselves from nutter radical Islamists. Shove it up dey butts! Good on them!

A day late and a dollar short. As long as a large percentage of Muslims sympathize with ISIS and provide material support it all looks like pissing into the wind to me.

What a pleasant and optimistic guy you are.

Every journey begins with one step. You on the other hand would prefer to sit on the toilet.

well when the surveys that have been done indicate like 98% support for shari'a law in places like egypt, it's hard to be encouraged. They may hate ISIS because they fear them, as ISIS ideology seems to be "join us and risk death or die", but are the underlying principles really so different? Shari'a law is about as oppressive as it gets and in fact more so than any country's legal code

what you refer to is likely the 'moderate muslims' in the west, but these don't have anywhere near the same kind of influence as those in for example saudi, where this twitter was trying to recruit....precisely because it's like 98% in favor of shari'a

What hypocrites. They follow the original fundamentalist, psychotic mass murderer, the man ISIS base their actions on. Don't like ISIS? Then how can they love Mohammad?

Any and all invalidations of ISIS and their claims from any source are welcome.

Re: Muslims hilariously troll the hell out of ISIS after their call for new jihadists

Not too long ago people were hollering for examples of Muslims denouncing the extremists. Now we have evidence and its "not enough". Just can't satisfy some people.

I laughed. We need to see more of this kind of stuff. I'd be very encouraged if Muslims spoke out more like this.

And they'd be more encouraged if more of us supported rather than criticized them for doing it.

-Said the bigot.

Keep up the fight. Muslims will get you one day if you keep pouring salt on the wounds.

You have to read in between the lines with those people. It's not the action of the Muslim people that bother them. It's the skin colour.

I had no idea you were an alqueda recruiter?

No, it isn't the skin colour as Islam has members from all races. It is the ideology. Whether a Muslim stands by and does not kill, crush, destroy, or a Muslim does those things, they still follow the ideology of the original Muslim fundamentalist. One cannot decry ISIS and follow Mohammad as they are one and the same.

Well, that statement makes no sense at all! You really didn't understand what I wrote.

i don't see how anything you said wouldn't be repeated by an alqueada recruiter?

And if one were to follow the bible literally their actions would make the most fundalmentalist Muslim seem like a schoolgirl. Rape, torture, slavery... it's all there.

Using the race card is old and meaningless. It's even more meaningless when you consider that "Muslim" is not a race. Would you use the race card on those that don't like Christians? Of course not. Because you know that Christians make up more than one race and that being a Christian is about religion. The same applies to Muslims. Muslims are Muslim because of the religion that they follow, not because they are some sort of race.

So, if you're going to use a liberal meme at least use it correctly.

Which is it?
"the rotten apple spoils his companion," (B.F...I think)
or is it
“One bad apple can spoil the bunch. ."(no idea whom to credit)
We can't indiscriminately judge millions of people by the actions of some. Get to know the individual, get informed. I wouldn't want to be judged by the actions and words of some fellow Christians.

All this shows is your complete ignorance of the Bible.

I saw some of these tweets earlier in the week. Cracks me up. Hadn't seen the photoshopped picture though, that's great.

Goes to show yet again my belief that the issue is far less a religion and far more a culture; specifically the fundamentalist mid-eastern culture where an archaic form of Islam exists not simply as a religion but as a political ideology and an overall cultural way of life. Outside of that culture, the same kind of fanaticism simply is not bread at similar levels and severity. While it absolutely can still exist and grow in the west, even then it's usually only through connection with and embracing of that culture.

I've been happy recently seeing more and more instances where there are apparently Muslims and Muslim groups willing to actually call the issue for what it is, admit there's an issue, and recognize the need for reformation and change within the religious community itself.

Change must always come from within, Z. Spot on.

The Old Testament, sure, and no, the followers of the Old Testament would not make a Muslim seem like a schoolgirl, they were pretty much the same, after all, Mohammad stole a lot from Judaism, particularly all the good verses that are abrogated by the later verses. But, just in case you didn't understand, I was talking about Mohammad...he was the original Muslim fundamentalist who makes ISIS look good. So, let's just make a comparison here.

Just to be clear, I am not a Christian.

Please show me where Jesus Christ married a 6 year old, sexually abused her until she was 9, then raped her. Please show me that Jesus Christ kept sex slaves. Please show me where Jesus Christ personally murdered people, lied, stole, and raped his way through what was then called Palestine. Yep, some of what he said edged towards violence, but if you can prove to me that Jesus Christ was the same as Mohammad, then I will concede the point.

I don't like any religion, none of them. Religion is a social construction for social control. It's one man deciding how the rest of society should live according to what he thinks and believes. But please, don't try and pretend that Christianity and Judaism today is the same as Islam. What people do not seem to understand, is that Mohammad ensured that Islam cannot be reformed (unlike Christianity and Judaism). If Islam were to be reformed, then it would no longer be Islam.

The bottom line is that to be a Muslim, one must (a) Believe in one god, called Allah, (b) believe that Mohammad was god's messenger (c) believe that Mohammad was the most perfect man whoever lived and (d) seek to emulate Mohammad's words and deeds, his life. To follow Mohammad is to follow the first, original Muslim fundamentalist terrorist, ergo, to pretend to be against Muslim terrorism is to be against Mohammad deeds and words. Muslims who are decent people, when they read the Koran and Hadiths and Sura and know who and what Mohammad was, leave Islam, even under the threat of death by being an apostate. Don't tell me about all the decent Muslims who are lovely, law abiding people - that nice, smiling Muslim follows, adores, loves a man who was a pedophile, mass murderer, rapist, sex slave owner, slave trader, thief, liar, misogynist, wife beating psycho. Does that not tell you something?? It tells me a lot, it speaks to that person's character.

Yep, people during the Old Testament era owned slaves, probably sex slaves, some were thieves, liars, wife-beating mysoginists and killers too, and during that era, Judaism and Christianity were as bad as Islam. But none of them claimed to be a prophet whose personal words and actions were sanctioned by god and everyone must follow him. The Old Testament god was vicious, vengefull and Judaism and Christianity reformed. The religions today are not the same.

Anyway, I am getting to the point where I don't discuss religion much with people because many people today just don't understand and will never understand. The older I get, the more I keep my opinions to myself because it is just not worth it. It is the reason that I always read here, a couple of times a day, but don't post much. I have educated my son and daughter and my four grand daughters and that's all that matters to me really. Of course, sometimes I just can't help myself!
