Deputy jumps into moving truck after driver passes out

Then you were unclear with both your own words and the words of others.

Generally speaking, when people mention of a category of things (ex cats, teachers, police officers) without quantification, they are usually referring to the group as a whole. So when someone says "cats/teachers/police officers are evil" they are referring to the group as a whole and do not mean every single member of the group.

But the oddest part of this is that when people say "cops are bad" you think they mean every single officer, but when you say "Day in, day out Officers place their lives on the line" you seem to understand that such wordings do not apply to ALL.

Unless of course, you can quote someone, anyone, saying "every single officer is bad"
Never meant to imply that all officers do this day in, day out.
I thought it was quite clear

I could go thru the old threads. The posts are there. But I have no intention of doing so.

I am sure I have not seen any posts that condemns every single officer.

Unless of course, you can quote someone, anyone, saying "every single officer is bad"

Otherwise, your claims are not rational

And the word generally is wide open, most cases, for the most part.

When I have time I will. But as we know Christmas is here, so a tad busy.

And yet, when others use the same sort of language you use, you believe they're implying all officers

when they do it, they mean all. When you do it, you mean not all

Sure they are. I believe you

That's OK. It's not like I was going to hold my breath waiting

Not that I seem to know, but others do as well.
OK, lets settle this. If I posted such comments, it would derail the thread, turn it into a urination match.
My post to you, which I guess is slow in reaching NZ.

When I do get around to it, I will send them by PM. Otherwise this turns into a mess. And I have no intention of doing that.
You have participated in the forum for quite some time, and you have never seen a post where a member condemns all Police Officers. Right.

IMHO you are picking fly**** out of pepper.
And if you have that much time on your hands, the chimps at the zoo always like to have their backs picked for nits and stuff.
So happy nitpicking

Actually, it is you who is nitpicking. You seem to see a difference between generalized statements made by you (which do not mean "all") and generalized statement by others (which do mean "all") even though they appear to be the same. It's obvious that there's some microscopic nit of difference between the two that only you can see.

Nit picking is not my forte. if as you do disagree with what I stated, that it means this, that or whatever, including generalizations I really do not give a rats pitoot.

Nebraska deputy jumps into moving truck after driver passes out - CBS News

Day in, day out Officers place their lives on the line. Here is another example.
To often I see member(s) slam and treat all Police Officers as criminals with a badge.

True heroism.

We see the bad ones, the ones who either by stupidity or design end up killing someone.

We rarely get to see this, nor do we see the police officer [locally] who stood in freezing wind and rain to hold a victims neck together until Fire-Rescue could get him out of a wreck. Nor do we hear about the guys who get called to check on the elderly who haven't been heard from only to find them long dead.

Anti-cops always like to point out at these times, anytime heroism comes into play, that police do not put their lives on the line, and they are right every day. Irrelevant but acurate. In fact statistically, policing is a relatively safe profession, fewer injuries than construction workers. Yes, it is relatively safe, when it isn't. Statistically, policing is the profession were you are most likely to die at the hands of a civilian.

To police detractors all I ask is 'would you have tried that?"

He did. He succeeded and prevented a potential disaster. That spells hero to me

Actually, they don't

For example, the gas company is doing some construction nearby. Every day, there are two police cars stationed on the road at either end of the construction zone. They sit in the car all day. To say they're placing their lives on the line is like saying people who ride the subway to work are risking their lives.

And that same afternoon they could well be serving warrants in domestic situations or in hot pursuit of armed bank robbers.

Most LEO are the good guys. The bad ones are a small number, but they get the publicity.

And you would be the first to criticize should some idiot smash into the construction. I am sorry to tell you that "stupid" costs society a lot and the salaries and equipment are cheap compared to the potential lawsuits.

As one who knows a few cops, I feel sorry for those poor guys, the most boring duty imaginable. They signed on to keep people "safe" and now this is what is required.

I agree. You've made a mess of it

Well my grammar and writing skills do not meet your standard. I can live with that.

Not these two. They're there all day long.

And where I live, there isn't much violent crime. An occassional domestic dispute with the potential for violence, but not "day in, day out" as stated in the OP

Most LEO are the good guys. The bad ones are a small number, but they get the publicity.

Yeah, it's a shame that the bad cops give the other 10% a bad name

If being stationed where a car can crash into you qualifies as "putting your life on the line, day in and day out" then there's nothing special about risking your life.

30% are rotten Ann other 30% look the other way 35% are ok 5% are exceptional.

85% of statistics are made up. Just saying.

I can only speak for our local force and they seem to be pretty level headed folks more times than not. There are always bad apples and with everything happening today, the worse of the bad apples are ruining the image of the badge on a larger scale.
I still prefer to think that a majority of officers really want to protect people more than abuse them.

That's an opinion, and I don't think it's supported by fact.

Ah gee, you haven't said whether you would try it.

Yeah, internet bravery; you're real tough there behind your computer screen and obviously have no ****ing idea what was involved. Like all your other posts.
