Ted Cruz: 'Majority of Violent Criminals Are Democrats'

Joe McCarthy was a demagogue, a liar and an asshole. So, for that matter, is Sen. Cruz. Why are your heroes demagogues, liars and assholes?

"Un-American commies." lol

Kobie, he was spot on-and your seemingly fearful response indicates you might know this.

McCarthy has been largely vindicated by historical record. There were lots of marxists around back then, as there are now.

They are right to fear Cruz. I would if I was a leftist.

And the problem with being a Marxist in a politically free country is what?

I suspect that look of ennui comes from his awareness that many of the people he is talking to are leftist dim bulbs.

Well whatever the reason he always looks...disappointed? Disgusted?

I'm glad to hear you mention Sen. Joe McCarthy of Wisconsin. He was a very brave man and a patriot, and he is one of my heroes. I also have a very high opinion of Sen. Cruz. Ted Cruz scares un-American commies for the same reasons Joe McCarthy did.

High chance on this image being doctored.

It's a joke. The map on the left is the 2004 election results map.

The study is correct, however.

It isn't presented as such. To people unfamiliar with US politics, it might be perceived as true. The study may or may not be correct (probably is), the image isn't.

That Politifact link was predictable.
That snapping sound was the writers (and perhaps the study's authors) breaking their spines bending over backwards to NOT say that felons were much more likely to be registered Democrats although the data said they were.
If the point was that Cruz shouldn't have said violent felons were overwhelmingly Democrat because, after all, not all felons are violent then you've got go with the notion that Democrat felons draw the line at violence.
If anyone wants to go that route then that could be the subject of a study about the Party registration of denizens of political websites trying mightily avoid uncomfortable reality.

Your opinion on that subject is uninformed by the facts. There is now irrefutable evidence that Joe McCarthy's suspicions about communist penetration of many federal agencies were fully justified. The poster is silliness that probably would seem very clever to a lot of none-too-bright community college freshmen.

Ted Cruz told APNews recently that it's in the US's national security interest to leave Assad in power, and that we should never have removed Hussein, Mubarak and Gaddafi. ;)

I don't care to try. I believe it is accurate, and whether people who hate Ted Cruz also believe it is accurate does not concern me.

I have no idea why they say those things. Ted Cruz is not a stupid man and he has to know that statements like that are not exactly smart. Makes no sense.

Because the portion of the base he is addressing is more than ready to believe that kind of hateful nonsense.

I agree with him as to Assad, Mubarak, and Khadaffi. It is a close call with Hussein. But I think that after 9/11, his demonstrated military threat to the oil supply of not only Kuwait, but also of all the nations on the west side of the Persian Gulf; his continuing, open belligerence toward this country; his history of manufacturing or trying to manufacture chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons; and his large-scale support for terrorists, which likely included some limited cooperation with Al Qaeda, made his regime too great a threat to our national security to tolerate.

Syria's no threat to to US security. Ted's right about Hussein too. Russia is preventing this one anyway.

Im inclined to agree with this.

Of-course the majority of violent felons are Democrats. The majority of felons who iidentify with a Political party in general are Democrats.
