Russian bombers wipe out Syrian city of Nawa, just 15 km from Golan

If true the US and others would have satellite imagery.

Considering Obama's attempts to cozy up to Putin on the ISIS file, do you think he'd allow US imagery to be shared if it embarrassed Russia at this point?

Yes he would. Obama has not been cozying up to Putin. They are acting with the facts as they are.
And considering how Putin has outmaneuvered Obama, their is no love lost.

For those claiming this is Russia going after ISIS, I'd just remind people that the City of Nawa was overrun by Syrian rebels and al Qaeda forces in opposition to Assad's Syrian regime and not ISIS. This story, if true, is Russia destroying Assad's opposition, not ISIS.

These are/were likely some of the people America and the coalition were supporting directly or indirectly.

And lest anyone forget, Syrian rebels were fighting ISIS...

Of course it is, consistent with the roll of an ally.

I don't know if this is true, but it is scary if it is.

According to this report, the Russian bombing campaign has wiped a city of 60,000 people off the map.

Cornell Law professor Michael C. Dorf calls Debka his "favorite alarmist Israeli website trading in rumors."

Dorf on Law: About Those Russian Spies

The site's operators, in contrast, state that 80 percent of what Debka reports turns out to be true

I'm OK with that.

True, wipe out any o position, leaving Assad and Daesh as the remaining choices.
Though I do think Putin would drop Assad like a hot potato, if he was guaranteed a long tern lease for the naval base.

Re: There once was a city named Nawa, Syrian... once

look to Grozny for how the Russian act.

At times. I could point you to crimes against humanity that have been committed in the past by the UK, and the US too, but nobody likes to be judged by their brutal moments.

In the case of this town, and the op, it's just another hatchet job on Russia considering the infestation of the various vermin that have launched attacks upon the Syrian government from there. It wasn't a bustling cosmopolitan center with markets and services and public transportation running on time and Syrian civilians walking about.

So you too deny that Russia has also targeted Islamic State positions? As to the so called town of Nawa, that has essentially been a fort to the various terrorist groups that have been attacking president Assad's forces from there, yes, that's precisely what a legitimate military target is.

Me I will wait and see. If the city was turned to rubble, the death rate would still be substantial.
No real opinion on if it is or is not true.
Facts will come out in the next few days.

If you're okay with that, you should be pushing for America to vacate the fight completely. If the new position is that anyone against the Assad regime can be wiped out, just let Russia and Assad do it.

I have said our policy is on the wrong side. As bad as Assad is, it was a relatively stable government, along with Egypt and Libya, before we helped spur the Arab Spring. Now we are seeing less stability, and worse leaders.

I was solidly against ousting Qaddafi, and I am solidly against ousting Assad.

No I stated that they were attacking Syrian rebels of all sorts. Never denied they were hitting Daesh as well.

If everybody in the town was killed, the death rate would be however many AQ/MB/al Nusra terrorists we're hold up in it.

I see, my bad, excuse me.

Two very strong positions to hold.

That's fair, but let's be clear that America had zero participation in the Arab Spring and it's why it has turned into a disaster in so many places. America isn't why Syria imploded, but America (read Obama) did nothing about it for far too long and only got involved when the jv team started moving. Both Libya and Syria were devolving - one with NATO help the other with no help.

And lest anyone forget, Syrian rebels were fighting ISIS...
... and losing.

Russia is there because they want to see Assad regain control. Personally, out of all the bad ideas out there, this one seems to be the least bad and also the most feasible.

The Syrians, add up the dead, will not want him to remain.

Nope. Many cities have those that have no where to go.

Sure, many cities do. But I'm talking about Nawa.

I will have to research that one.

Right, and could have been done 150,000 dead Syrian civilians ago.
