The hacking group Anonymous appears to have declared war on the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in the wake of Friday’s devastating terror attacks on Paris.

In an unverified video posted on YouTube on Saturday, a spokesperson wearing the group’s signature Guy Fawkes mask warned the group “war is declared” and to expect “major cyberattacks.”"Anonymous from all over the world will hunt you down. You should know that we will find you and we will not let you go. We will launch the biggest operation ever against you," the spokesperson said in French.
ISIS on Saturday claimed responsibility for the deadly attacks that killed 129.
Anonymous made similar threats following the attacks on the satirical French newspaper Charlie Hebdo in January. The group in February posted hundreds of social media accounts and websites that it claimed were affiliated with the jihadist group.
The hacking collective launched a series denial-of-service attacks on ISIS sites, flooding the pages with phony traffic to disable them. Many of the Twitter accounts the group outed were ultimately suspended.

Threatening to do their biggest cyber attack ever on ISIS. I say more power to them.

Sure, why not.

Well now ... Obama did indeed say that bringing ISIS down will require a global effort :2razz:

It would be interesting to see how bad they can disrupt them. Reports are surfacing that ISIS has been maintaining communication through the PS4 network, of all things.

The cynic in me has to wonder why all these people are now so energized against ISIS. The mass slaughter of Kurds and Yizidi was just a big yawnsville, I guess.

Well first, Anonymous has been shutting down ISIS Twitter accounts and they have the ability to hack and jam up all of their media. Secondly wouldn't a list of ISIS participating names and funding be interesting?

This is the kind of thing that Anonymous is famous for. So I say good for them.

People really only care about what the media shows them, and a chain reaction of sorts where people care about what others around them are caring about.

I wonder when the world will declare war on isis.they pretend to bomb them but also keep buying its cheap oils

I'm wondering if all the KKK privacy rights warriors are going to attack anyone backing Anonymous in this thread? We'll see.

boots on the keyboard

take no prisoners, geeks

Not the same at all. One is a group of misguided idiot racists with American citizenship and all the rights enumerated under the US constitution. Outing thier personal beliefs, to me anyway, is not the same as seeking out people who are actively engaging war with you.

the klan in impotent as the rotarty club.

1) Not my country. So I don't have much say in how the French hackers do it.

2) If they get caught...they deserve punishment for vigilantism JUST like they should be for any other law breakers.

3) Why don't those anonymous cowards put on white hats and help intelligence services in taking down Isis? What are they going to do from a keyboard? Launch a drone strike? Nope. Drop a sniper somewhere? Nope.

As per usual...anonymous has no real power other than to disrupt and Annoy someone. The fact is...if they are naive enough to believe their keyboards are enough to find people who communicate mainly through face to face conversations...they are kidding themselves.

You want anonymous to have my respect? Let them start policing themselves and turning in their own for things like the hack on the epilepsy foundation or the no cuss club kid. And maybe start exposing Isis bank accounts.

From a legal standpoint, the same rules would apply.
If Anonymous released a list of all of the ISIS members it had found,
that information would have to be verified is some other way, before it could be actionable.
While a person being a member of the KKK may not be illegal in and of itself, I am not sure
the same could be said of a ISIS member.

Idk. Being a member of a known terrorist organization? Probably not.

Every bit will help.

Hope this is more successful than their Summer of 2014 war on ISIS and those who assist terrorists. They also claimed, in February this year, after Charlie Hebdo, that they were going to take down ISIS.

When's the last time the KKK killed a bunch of people? According to the Internet the KKK has killed 1937 people (black and white) since 1865, none since the 1980's. Do I think that makes the KKK angels? NO, but let's consider time and perspective. How many people has ISIS and al Qaeda killed?

But white ring (republican extremists)!!!! The KKK is the only one of those groups and they kill black people! Racists aren't humans! Everyone must believe as I do or they are evil! They have no rights! They deserve whatever they get!

Sigh. They can't even attack the real racist threats (aryan brotherhood). But still don't buy they have any chance of doing anything to Isis. A keyboard vs an AK...the AK will win.

Those reports are wildly speculative.

If only the hacking would kill terrorists.
