Donald Trump's 95-Minute Rant

Ooooh! That's good. You should copyright it.:lamo

Truthfully; it is good and pretty well sums up my feelings toward him.

I've been saying that everytime his name came up as a potential maybe candidate and he merely reinforces his failure with every stupid comment.

I believe I've made that clear in many threads. I reregistered as a republican so I could vote for him to take the nomination.

And did you do that for Trump, or to help your prior party?

Donald Trump is Hillary's best campaigner -- he makes every GOP contender behind him in the polls look ineffectual, and thus when Trump is eventually weeded out in deference to a likely dark horse experienced political scientist, the public will have already come to think of GOP contenders as "less than".

No one should be offended by what he said. It was a poor choice of words, but nothing more. He should have said "How stupid does Carson think we are?" rather than "how stupid are the people of Iowa." But who cares? Its a meaningless slipup for a guy who rambles on unfiltered without notes.

Having come from the political consultant and advice business - I cannot think of one professional - be they Democrat or Republican - who would not strongly and emphatically urge in no uncertain terms a candidate to NEVER EVER say the voters are stupid.

But he did and its out there.

Oddly, I think Mr. Trump's running for President is a cathartic experience for him! :lamo

More importantly he is a catharsis for America.

He is easy to laugh at, harder to laugh with, and disobeys ALL the normal unspoken campaign rules. Having said that he is right. Illegal immigration would not be on the table had he not promised to build "the wall". And because of that he's among the far ahead leaders.

He is tapping the deep seated emotions of Americans frustrated at their country's unsolved issues; he is tapping the anger of people who know the truth, that America isn't winning anymore. He is driving the vote of millions of people who believe there can be easy answers to the unsolved problems.

A right winger with common man appeal, easy answers and a tough guy stance sells, obviously. And that should be the frightening part, he is resonating with a whole new dynamic, voters who have remained untapped by the current mob of professional politicians. And so far the only thing the establishment has had to combat are sneers and laughter, while the rest of the candidates tremble, knowing there really isn't a damn thing they can do but hope he self destructs.

I don't think he will self destruct, and those who are comfortable with the belief this guy won't ever be president maybe need to sit up and stop sneering

Makes you wonder why some right wingers love him so much..

It aint just right wingers that like him, part of his support comes from the Occupy Wall Street crowd. Funny thing is he gets support from everywhere, all sides and its pretty even across the board. He taps into something that seems to appeal to a broad section of society. Maybe its exactly because, he opens his trap and says what he really is thinking or at least seems he is. I don't pretend to know, its just a guess on my part. I like him because, he is the big hairy bulbous middle finger to the establishment, and he has allowed those who would have been shuffled off to the side be heard in the contest. I think that is the best thing he has accomplished in this race. I aint gona vote for him, Carson is my man. But I like him nonetheless.

He has said this before about Iowa. Yet he still is doing very well. Sometimes molds need to be broken.

Yeah. While recognizing that it is a bit circular, I'm pretty comfortable with declaring that anyone who votes for Trump isn't a serious voter by definition.

If it were between him and Jeb Bush, Trump gets my vote everyday and twice on Sunday. Call me what you will. The dregs the establishment have brought out suck.

Can you say political suicide boys and girls?

Really? Has he done similar before? Yes and many times. Has it hurt him badly. As of yet no. If he has been committing political suicide, he sure as hell sucks at it.

Because he keeps saying ludicrous things such as that Joseph built the pyramids for the Egyptians to store grain in.

That's a really stupid thing to say. That would be the most inefficient expenditure of resources and energy the world, nay galaxy, has seen. All evidence we have also says it is false. There's no way it's true, but he says he believes it. No different than claiming that the moon is really made of cheese.

"Hope and change" was rather foolish but it simply doesn't stack up to Carson's absurdities.

A 2011 Gallup poll had 90% of Americans saying they believed in God. The notion that "the left" doesn't like Carson because he is religious is demonstrably false.

(The lies and/or inexplicable inaccuracies he's told haven't helped either)

Really? So that is the only criticism that has been leveled at Carson? NONE has centered around his religious beliefs? Liberals would never stoop to taking pot shots at his religion right?

For an hour and 35 minutes, Republican front-runner Donald Trump vented about everything that's wrong with this country and this election. Gone was the candidate's recent bout of composure and control on the campaign trail. He said he would "bomb the ****" out of areas controlled by ISIS and that he knows more about terrorists than U.S. military generals. He ranted about how everyone else is wrong on illegal immigration. He accused Hillary of playing the "woman's card," and said Marco Rubio is "weak like a baby." And he spent more than 10 minutes angrily attacking his chief rival, Ben Carson, at one point calling "pathological, damaged."

And yet Carson is doing well in the polls, Trump said in disbelief. "How stupid are the people of Iowa? How stupid are the people of the country to believe this crap?"

The ironic part is that Trump is heavily dependent on those "stupid people" to be where he is currently. The Republican front-runner, ladies and gentlemen.

Did you even watch the speech at all? I ask because the speech bears no resemblance to your description. You should always take into account that there is always going to be someone in the thread who actually watches, regardless of how long it is.

"Rant?" "No control?" Anyone can watch for five minutes and see how uncharacteristically slowly he is speaking. Probably because there are no time limits like there are in the debates where we're used to seeing him. I would have preferred he speak much faster.

It was the typical Donald Trump that we've been seeing for months, completely off the cuff, no Obama teleprompters, nothing new, but like always it made you feel good because he is so "Pro-America." I don't know how anyone could not like his message. Like this speech, it's always God Bless America, full speed ahead and we're going to make it happen." Believe it.

It's also encouraging because regardless of what happens from this point on, that message is not going away, it's resonating too widely and working too well.

Hm. Between a progressive republican who will do what he is told by an angry base, or a progressive republican who won't....

Nope. I'll take the former. Forced to choose between him and Bush (and I would vote for neither for President, I'd go third party first), I'd choose Bush.

Agreed - but its still not something too wise to do. Never bite the hands that feeds you- and in this case its the voters he wants to be fed by on primary day.

I did watch the video. It is 90 minutes and the ranting portion with little control over the contents of the speech ramps upward as the speech goes on.

I think Ben may be lying again???

To be really honest - I do not normally side with Carson - but the whole Trump rant about Carson and a child molestor/pathological mental illness thing went far over the line. For Carson to be so charitable about it, is going to play well with his base.

Oh Ben was gracious, without doubt.

Yup. Trump makes fun of the idea that religious conversion can change your life, and Carson responds with charity.

Gosh, well it's a good thing for Trump there aren't any Evangelical Christians in Iowa, eh?

The media criticizes Carson, and the Cons and the Republican politicians flip out and scream over and over, it's the Evil Liberal Media fault.

Trump criticizes Carson, even compares him to child molesters, and those same cons who just screamed about the evil 'media' will still support Trump and Trump's polling numbers will go up, again.

This is better and funnier then SNL.

You can't make this stuff up.

Brand new Reuters poll shows Carson has been damaged and Trump benefits

Reuters Polling

I have said all along that if Trump can get into the 30's and not go down from there into Iowa and New Hampshire - he could pull off the story of the decade. And he now is in the mid 3-'s with nobody else even close.

34 for Trump and nearly 20 for Carson with nobody else in double digits - Trump should be a very happy man today.

It's bad enough Trump is tapping into the far right people of the GOP. But honestly what's even scarier is the whole GOP has been kissing the asses of the far right of their party for 6-7 years now.

The GOP,even the establishment GOP, has been bending over for the type of people that are supporting a person like Donald Trump. THAT is scarier then hell.

If they go all the way with Trump and give their party to him like a bride on the wedding night - the party will be damaged severely with a devastating loss that could have down ticket effects causing them to lose at least the Senate. Depending on how bad it is, they will have to rebrand, reorganize and if its really bad - may have to dissolve and rebuild to recover - at least on a national level.

But what do you do with the right/ libertarian / crazies who want a piece of the action and are not going to vanish even if their boy gets his ass handed to him and it ruins the larger Republican Party?

The obvious solution is to try and force them out and then you have the third party problem which causes Republicans to lose almost every election for a while.

This could be really really good and better than buttered popcorn at a double feature with car chases.
