POLICE today issued a desperate plea for the mystery organisers of what has been described as one of "the world's biggest ever global protests" to contact them amid fears of carnage in London and other cities across the globe TOMORROW.

To coincide with Guy Fawkes Night "hacktivist" group Anonymous is holding the fourth annual Million Mask March event at cities across the globe, with London expected to be one of the worst affected and the Met Police on standby to cover the whole area.

The above article appeared today in UK, and I noted Anonymous rating more than a mention within this site, so figured you would be interested in this one also, especially given it stated global, which would included USA.

I am of two minds with regard Anonymous, and can see the advantages and disadvantages of what it does. After all, I was once a hacker myself, but nothing on this scale, and nothing illegal.

If anonymous does all of this they will face a huge backlash against them and it will reveal their true colors.

what do they mean by "lockdown"? last year only 6000 showed up there were more people at the actual guy fawkes parade they have every year then at this thing

they used too but the 1% moved the factories overseas to take advantage of cheap slave labor in 3rd world countries where the peasants can't fight back

but its a public holiday, so they have the day off anyway

All hacking is illegal in the U.S. I'm surprised it isn't the same in the UK.

No it isn't, you can legally hack any system that it's owners give you permission for. It's called security consulting.

Computer laws are still relatively new. That is, it was legal when I was doing it. Further, I had also been commission by major bank to test the security of their ATM machines when first introduced (meaning I was commissioned by bank to rob their bank). This practiced is not new, and continues to be practiced today. The reason for that is that banks are losing billions every year through computer fraud. No matter how good the security, what one man can create another can break.

My number one rule is never ever trust your computer, especially when connected to the net.

Much to the disappointment of scum like the Express “news”paper, who love to see riots, destruction and violence as long as they get the exclusive pictures and can come up with someone – anyone suitably unpopular already – to blame.

Much of what you said here is nothing more than mischaracterization meme's. They're called "Anonymous" for a reason. No one knows what they are like both physically, mentally, and socially. They can make up all types of people in our society. From doctors to lawyers to mechanics to professional programmers, and yes, even "pasty nerds, disinterested teenagers and overweight neckbeards with really radical ideas that confront injustice wherever they see it". But your expression here is not meant as a way to identify them, but as a way to make them seem like something "beneath" you (general you, not you you). Something undesirable, to be shunned. Another "Scarlet Letter". Even has the same letter being used. A

So, I ask again... So long as the protest is peaceful, what's the big deal?

The headline states mentions millions, though in article it states thousands.

For those interested and may not know, today is the 5th of November, Guy Fawkes night.
