As the first anniversary of the Ferguson protests approaches, a group identifying itself as the hactivist collective Anonymous has issued a threat to members of the Ku Klux Klan:

We've gained access to yet another KKK Twitter account. Using the info obtained, we will be revealing about 1000 klan member identities.

In November of last year, Anonymous members launched Operation KKK, or #OpKKK, after a chapter of the KKK reportedly threatened to use "lethal force" against people protesting the killing of unarmed teenager Michael Brown by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri.
At the time, the hacker collective vowed to wage a "cyber war" against the hate group, saying: "You messed with our family and now we will mess with yours."
Within a couple of days of launching the #OpKKK campaign last year, Anonymous members claimed to have taken over the KKK’s main Twitter account and other websites associated with the group.
"We want the KKK gone, forever," a person going by the username “SiX” told The Huffington Post last November in an Anonymous Internet Relay Chat about the operation. "Don’t worry, we know what we’re doing."

Expose the racist bastards! They can no longer cowardly hide behind their hoods!

Hasn't anonymous got any thing better to do? Like exposing corruption and things that matter?

Good for them. I do not agree with everything Anonymous does, but I will admit the majority of what they do I can get behind.

The idea of KKK on twitter is funny as ****.

It's so happy with its little blue tweet bird - how can they manage to hate effectively amid so many lulz cats and pro-weed sentiments? I can't even focus on hot kinky sex advertising while there it's s damned perky.

And the idea of them editing their hate messages and clan-meet get together times down to 140 characters, resorting to the irritating 2 and 4 instead of to and for (causing issues with the abandoned too that has no home) is just gut wrenchingly funny. . . . or are they compulsive? a 500 word hate essay broken down into 100 unequal parts. . . . and don't they run out of things to say? So maybe they just aren't very active and their twitter feeds aren't blowing up their white iphones.

Who cares who they are? They're irrelevant.

Unless they turn out to be "pillars of the community" or elected officials .... that is a problem is it not?

I logged onto stormfront once, and suggested that if they're members really wanted to be pure Aryan only (a false cause) then they should all pass a DNA test. I got banned.

Cool...good on Anonymous.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with what they are doing, imo - so long as they do not release personal information of these people (like phone numbers or bank account numbers, etc.).

Anyone who objects to what Anonymous is doing I would wonder why? Partially to the KKK perhaps? Of course they will deny it.

I've been avidly against anonymous. Nothing pro KKK. I don't trust anonymous to do the right thing. They aren't regulated. What they do is outside the law, and thus they have full potential violate the rights of people. That isn't ok.

The article was a lot better than I assumed it would be, due to the inclusion of quite a few public quotes traded between to two groups.

Pretty interesting stuff.

Thank you, for posting!

Hah! Funny!

I'm not sure if it's that they're evil ***holes . . . Or just stupid idiots.

The trick is going to be notable people, I think that's what this is about for anonymous.

OK, so why not go after the Masons and Shriners?

I don't think forcing someone to reveal their personal beliefs is legal. I DO, however, believe we all enjoy a right to privacy in this country.

Yes?

Many Republicans and their staffers are about to get outed...

Why even bother with such an irrelevant group of individuals?
