World Bank treats human rights like an infectious disease, says UN official - Trickzindia.com

Philip Alston, an independent investigator appointed by the United Nations and a distinguished law professor with wide experience in the field, has accused the World Bank of being a "human rights-free zone" which "treats human rights more like an infectious disease than universal values and obligations".
The UN special rapporteur, in his report to the UN General Secretary, says that the World Bank, formed in 1944 to facilitate post-war reconstruction in the aftermath of World War II, "has sought to present itself as a functional, technical agency and hence one that is above the political fray."
The World Bank, however, strongly rejected the charges.

"I'm just doing my job" said the SS officer.

Sorry, but considering the UN record on human rights violations, they ave no real credibility in any capacity.

Agreed, I would go so far as to say overall the UN has become so worthless we should question anything they come up with.

I am not surprised that a country that often acts unilaterally would have such views of this international, intergovernmental agency. Whatever its shortcomings the UN and its workers are still respected among many other smaller countries.

I'll rephrase what you just said: "Unless the UN is a US dominated institution, it is not worth considering." The UN has many shortcomings (what doesn't) but it is still respected internationally, and their reports are very much relevant.

You'd be wrong because I don't want America to be the world's policeman.

What you did is also very dishonest and very insulting.

Addendum:

Not everybody likes the UN. Here is at least one website that is monitoring them and how they violate human rights and commit atrocities of their own:

UN Watch | Monitoring the UN, Promoting Human Rights

If the UN is about curtailing those who commit human rights violations and atrocities, then why would anyone want to be a part of it when they allow for things like this:

Egypt massacred 1,000 people in 1 day, now seeks seat on UN Security Council - UN Watch

the UN is a complete and utter joke.

Uh....the UN IS a US dominated institution. One of the reasons many americans dislike it so.

Looks like a case of the pot calling the kettle black, as the UN, IMF, and World Bank, all have skeletons in the closet.
