In fact with 300 million guns available it would seem they aren't doing that badly. Recall that two world wars began in Europe, among many localized wars, thus the natural distrust of Europeans with guns. Even their own politicians and citizens understand that they shouldn't be allowed near them.

I don't have a lot of examples for fudging homicide numbers, but there are some....

CBS 2 Investigator Pam Zekman questioned if the police department was fudging the murder rate by hiding homicides. Now several cases are getting a second look.

"A raging fire killed three people and a woman's body was found in a South Side swamp.

Those are just four of about 80 cases CBS 2 wanted reviewed by the police department. That's because they were apparently not classified properly as homicides despite recommendations by the medical examiner....."

As an aside, but in response you said, "But comparing the US with other advanced countries is what the thread is about. But you're right the US isn't like other countries because our citizens have a lot more guns than theirs do. Which might explain why the US murder rate is so much higher than theirs as well". After that you responded that the police were fudging the numbers.

Thanks, though much of this appears to be speculation. It does support my point that the murder rate in the inner cities does tend to effect the national average. Remove those stats and a different story may emerge.

The way to solve this is to pass stricter laws against unlawful gun possession by the Feds. like 15 years in prison for carrying a gun out on the street.

I watch Fox News. I even occasionally listen to talk radio. Yet somehow I missed the "go out and kill black people" message that Maher claims they are sending out. Am I somehow missing these 'dog whistles' that only Maher and the shooter seem to pick up on? Does Maher even know if this kid even watched Fox news? Maybe he was a fan of Maher. Or is it that Maher is just jumping to moronic, liberal, knee-jerk conclusions?

Heya Fletch, :2wave: Lets not forget that Mahers great contribution to society was......that he was a Mediocre Stand up comedian that made the cut at time when comedy wasn't so competitive. Not that he was really in the league with the best in that field.
