Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Sorry Mr. Comb Over.

As Donald Trump announced his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination on Tuesday, critics quickly noticed his peculiar use of a Neil Young protest song — and so did Young himself.Mother Jones reported that the Canadian singer was not consulted prior to Trump’s event, according to a statement from manager Elliot Roberts.
“Donald Trump’s use of ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ was not authorized,” Roberts said. “Mr. Young is a longtime supporter of Bernie Sanders.”

Who is Neal Young?

I'm pretty sure Trump probably feels the same way about Neil Young now as Lynyrd Skynyrd did:

The difference being the good lads from west Jacksonville had enough common sense never to run for public office.

They could have been elected governor of Alabama as a group.

Nasally singer, bad pitch, sort of relevant once upon a time. Apparently he supports a similarly irrelevant democrat politician.

You got me Miss Grammar Nazi.

Truth be known Mr. Young is the one who misspells it. :bootyshake

Well actually Master Know It All, it makes me Miss Spelling Nazi, and now I'm being Madam Nitpicker.

If that were the case, then why use one of Neil's songs for his campaign announcement. That's the most daft post of the day, no doubts.

If you are talking about Neil Young, he also is part owner of Lionel trains.

If you will reread my post I wrote the following:

I didn't know I would need to bold one word to convey meaning and provide assistance to help improve a reader's comprehension, but I guess I did.

Daft you say? :3oops:

Trump has more in the cushions of is couch than Young has ever had. Plus, Young is not American. So, who cares.

So true, $9 billion buys a lot of gilded chandeliers. The Donald speaks for the heart of the GOP no doubt. I can't wait for him in the debates. Trump and Cruz will be the highlight of the evening.

Ironically enough, Young and Ronnie Van Zant are actually on good terms, and the war of lyrics was more hyped up by fan bases than by the two singers themselves.

What started the beef between Neil Young and Lynyrd Skynyrd? - Quora

That's one impression of the interaction over NY's songs Alabama and Southern Man, and and Lynyrd Skynyrd's Sweet Home Alabama.

You should have stated "were on good terms." Ronnie Van Zant died in 1977 in a plane crash. It doesn't appear you knew that.

That certainly makes it much easier to be on good terms.

One thing I like about Trump is that he tells it as he sees it. There isn't much of a filter between his brain and his mouth. Its usually very entertaining to hear him bloviate, with both fact and opinion.

I don't blame him one bit. I know I'd be bull**** if that idiot Hillary Clinton used a song of mine without permission, or if Barack Obama or Nancy Pelosi or Barney Frank did it. Trump had no right to do that.

Anyone who wants to use one of his songs but doesn't know that Neil Young, and all of the former members of CSNY in fact, is a very left wing individual is not paying attention.

.

Trump doesn't even realize what the song is about.

The plot thickens...

The statement, released by Young's manager Elliot Roberts, reads, "Donald Trump was not authorised to use Rockin' In The Free World in his presidential candidacy announcement. Neil Young, a Canadian citizen, is a supporter of (politician) Bernie Sanders for President of the United States Of America."

However, Trump's team has now declared they were authorised to use the song, telling TMZ.com they "paid for and obtained the legal right" to play it.

The website reports they also declared they will not be using the track again.
