US warships to intersept Iranian warship off Yemeni coast.

US warships to intercept Iranian arms shipments - Business Insider

I wonder what Obama is going to have to give to Iran to close that hallowed nuke deal after this?

Heya Chainsaw. :2wave: Looks like BO is flexing back, huh? He has sent the Teddy Roosevelt steaming to the region. It will join up with the other 9 ships we have there. It don't look like the Iranians will attempt to run the blockade now. Although, I am sure the Iranians won't like it.

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. Navy officials say the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt is steaming toward the waters off Yemen and will join other American ships prepared to intercept any Iranian vessels carrying weapons to the Houthi (HOO'-thee) rebels fighting in Yemen.

There are about nine U.S. ships in the region, including cruisers and destroyers carrying teams that can board and search other vessels.....snip~

U.S. Warship Heading To Yemeni Waters To Intercept Iranian Weapons Shipments, Navy Officials Say

"Hold the Popcorn....."

It looks like there's not going to be a war for the entertainment of our Chicken Hawk Brigade today.

The Iranian decision makers are too happy with the fruits of improved relations with the U.S. to jeopardize that progress now.

It was progress on the Nuclear talks that helped the US to finally give the OK for Russia to close the sale of S300s to Iran, recently. The Iranians are well aware that the next US Administration may not be so willing to negotiate rationally. The clarification by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani lacked any confrontational rhetoric that, while meaningless, is unproductive especially at this time.

It is also reassuring for those of us hoping to avoid a bloody confrontation that the US Navy & Iranians have been sharing the same waters for years so there's less likely for there to be miscommunications

Pentagon: US Warship Repositioning, Not Intercepting Iranian Ships Off Yemen

EXCERPT “The Pentagon says the American warship USS Theodore Roosevelt is "repositioning" as part of a security operation at sea, and not to intercept Iranian vessels off the coast of Yemen.
Citing unnamed officials, the Associated Press reported earlier in the day that the aircraft carrier would join other U.S. ships in the area to confront Iranian vessels, .....
But Pentagon spokesman Col. Steve Warren dismissed the report, saying the Roosevelt is ”repositioning to conduct maritime security operations."
On Saturday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the presence of Iranian naval ships "in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Aden is intended to ensure the security of neighboring countries and maritime traffic."CONTINUED

Rational minds should continue to pray that cool heads prevail.

Chickenhawk Brigade? How does that apply to those that have been in combat, again?

Looks like the Egyptians became rational and said they would Put troops in Yemen after the capture of the Iranians in Yemen took place.

It appears this morning, All of the MS media is reporting the US has sent ships to help with the blockade and to prevent the Iranians from trying to supply the Houthi with arms.

What happened? Did they forget what that Pentagon Official was trying to say?

edit: You know what? Nevermind. I don't actually care.

Looks like we're in the area to protect the Iranian ships now. For all the world it looks like Iran now has an aircraft carrier, and it's one of ours. We're there to protect shipping lanes, and the Iranians are the one's using them today. Nice. So after Iran delivers the anti-aircraft missiles, we'll be incensed, having enabled them to do it. This is the Obama administration foreign policy. We use our military against our own best interests and those of our allies.

I'm pretty flexible for my age, but in this case none are required. But thanks for noticing my amazing abilities. Surely there's another reason they are there - change of scenery, maybe.
