Iran and U.S. reach tentative agreement in nuclear talks

Why are you hopeful of that? Do you feel you can trust Iran with a nuclear weapon?

absolutely
the iranians have proven it by not initiating a war with another nation in over 100 years
unfortunately, we cannot say the same about israel for 10 months
which is why it is compelling that the region have a counterbalance to israel's nuclear capacity

I'm scratching my head in wonder that the U.S. wants to negotiate with a party that it cannot believe and cannot trust. What possible good outcome for the U.S. could come out of it? We seem to want to throw our allies under the bus and pander to our enemies. There isn't an ounce of common sense in it. Baffling.

really?!!
the USA deposed the iranian elected government and replaced it with the dictatorial shah who imposed a reign of terror upon the citizens of that country
and it is we who should not trust them?
stunning assessment

Alas!! Progress made! Right before the GOP brings in these "new sanctions" in diplomatic talks. Hopefully this will make the GOP back down on their hawkish rhetoric about Iran. I mean hell, they have been at it ever since we abadoned the fail policy of the Bush administration with Iran... But hey, of course that "OBAMA SUCKS!!!" crowd will scream and yell, but diplomacy with Iran has broken through, and hopefully it can be taken forward!

I never heard of Haartz so I checked the MSM news, Fox, CNN, NBC, ABC etc and seen nothing on it. Then I googled it and I came up with this:

Iran denies nuclear deal with US | World news | The Guardian

So either the guardian is wrong or Haartz is wrong. Being that there is nothing in the MSM about the deal, I think I would side with the guardian for now. That does not mean I do not want a deal. I think the talks are a good thing and have been all for them. But I sure wouldn't go jumping up for joy until this story can be confirmed.

What Iran did for 100 years is not relevant today. The fact is that the country is run now by religious nutcases who have already threatened Israel with a nuclear attack.

Israel was in a war 10 months ago?

You must be a Muslim.

Not sure why you are stunned but glad you agree.

You're right...they haven't. They supply outside radical groups to do that.

So because Israel is attacked and hence forced to defend itself from Islamic terrorism and because Iran is engaging a proxy war through its terror organizations and isn't using its own military that means Israel is hostile and Iran is peaceful, right?

Your consuming hatred had clearly deprived you of having common sense, your remark is as illogical as it gets.

Probably just a setup I imagine. Sorta like foootball team apologizing for hands up when they never apologized. News says Iran will negotiate when Iran never plans to and then when the time comes News says "they lied!" and in comes the defamation.

Only a set-up as long as Obama is President .

Now you I'll listen to because you gave me a link instead of what the other naysayers are saying.
Well done as usual.

In a way, it doesn't bother me Sen. McCain is now in charge of foreign policy in the Senate.
Now there will be no doubt .

The earlier reports appear to have been incorrect or overly optimistic. From Reuters:

Iran denied on Saturday that it had reached an agreement with the United States to ship its surplus enriched uranium to Russia under new concessions aimed at clinching a comprehensive nuclear deal with six world powers.

I doubt such an arrangement would be acceptable to the powers in the region as it leaves Iran with the latent capability to create a bomb. A latent capability is almost as powerful a strategic asset as actually having a bomb.

excellent point

You never heard of Haaretz? Its Israel's oldest newspaper and is definitely considered a outlet of mainstream media in Israel...

I think the only thing we have to do know is wait to see if an informal agreement has been made.

No I haven't. I really do not pay Israel much mind. That is unless it is in the news. ISIS and the Taliban is what has my attention today along with the deteriorating situation in Libya wonder how much longer it will be before we have to go back in. I did my sweep of the American news channels, over the air, cable etc. nothing until I came up with the guardian.

Yeah, I agree. We will just have to wait and see. But something as big as this, I figured an American news source would have something on it.

Haha you think this is a good thing? They've already decided to continue enriching the Uranium to exceed the limits. It's already happened. I mean I know that Iran knows Obama is a total wuss, but come on, bragging about this is like slapping your self in the face.

The problem with MAD is that it does not work in a multipolar world with short reaction times and poor information. It was iffy enough with only two superpowers and a vast area between them. But we will see nuclear war, if proliferation takes off and we do not have a robust common security system at the global level. As it is forming up, we do not have much time to build the system. And with the Iran negotiations to go by, we do not have a snowballs chance in Hell of survival.
good point on MAD, buti do not agree nuclear war is a given if the ME arms up/
They ( regional powers) are content to run a proxy war in Syria, and now must see that doing so easily came back to bite Iran and SA.
Granted the religious aspects do not always make a for a sane assessment of situations - but nuclear war gets everybody's attention involved.

either way, I do believe Iran will get the bomb, and then it's off to the nuclear proliferation race for the region

Haha you think this is a good thing?
How is an agreement to move forward with talks, and Iran reportedly agreeing to ship Russia a lot of material needed to supposedly create a bomb? How is that bad?

Yup, great analysis "Obama is a wuss" therefore this sucks.

The fact that Obama is a wuss is the reason this deal is useless. A uranium enrichment deal once they've already passed the amount needed for minimal bomb making, is 100% pointless. I can see blind obamadrones will think it's some milestone. Because they are drones.

Yea! What a *****!

No its not especially since according to these diplomats they are going to ship the material needed for a bomb out of the country.
Also its important to note the following:
"In its November 2014 report, the agency said, "All of the enrichment related activities at Iran’s declared facilities are under Agency safeguards, and all of the nuclear material, installed cascades, and feed and withdrawal stations at those facilities are subject to Agency containment and surveillance."

""When President Obama says that for the first time in the past decade Iran has not advanced its nuclear program he is correct," said Daryl Kimball, executive director of the Arms Control Association, a research group that advocates for arms control policies. "Leading up to the interim deal, Iran had nearly amassed enough 20 percent enriched uranium gas, which when further enriched to weapons grade is enough for one bomb."

That material is no longer available, Kimball said." Obama: Iran has not advanced nuclear ambitions since U.S. negotiations started | PolitiFact

Great analysis. Sums up like this: "I dont like Obama, he is a wuss, Iran bad, and if you say otherwise you are a 'Obamadrone'. " Good analysis.

See! No matter what, you blind sheep will make up lies to try and help Obama's already destroyed legacy.

Nuclear tipped missiles, range 1.25ARM are an easy make for Iran right now. Do you know the damage that can do with only 11% DDR Uraniam? Imagine what Iran can do now that they can enrich 100% more than that???

Oh yea, but a treaty that states they will soften enrichment is a total "win". lol.

I'm confused, which of the facts I posted are you debating? You keep quoting Obama, when I'm quoting the details of the nuclear deal.
