Obama Imposes New Sanctions On North Korea In Response To Sony Hack

Not when it comes to you automatically accusing anyone who questions these sanctions of being blinded by hatred for the Obama administration. I like Obama on some things, I dislike him on others. This is one of the things he has done while in office that I vehemently disagree with. Has nothing to do with partisanship or my personal opinion of the man and I'm sure the same could be said for OrphanSlug, who seems to be largely unpartisan from what I've seen.
I read into it a partisan bias, which I was attempting to call out, not introduce. Perhaps I've misread it.

The thing that interests me the most here, is the last sentence in the White Houses press release. The "first aspect". Is that denying that the US government was behind the attack that lead to the DPRK's whole internet going completely dark? But always, more sanctions on the DPRK, expect the DPRK to try to make some noise with their petty rhetoric and actions.

I believe the shut down has been attributed to independent hackers. There is also a growing opinion the DPRK was not behind the Sony attack.

Sanctions on North Korea? How and why would we sanction NK? I wasn't aware that we were dealing with them to any extent sufficient to sanction them on anything. They apparently believe we were behind their internet blackout, and we said we weren't. I doubt that many NK people even know what the internet is in the first place, so what's this all about?

these are the groups/people we just blacklisted from doing business with us
They included the Reconnaissance General Bureau, the government's main intelligence organization, and two top North Korean arms exporters: Korea Mining Development Trading Corporation (KOMID) and Korea Tangun Trading Corporation.

The individuals named included agents of KOMID in Namibia, Russia, Iran and Syria, and other representatives of the government and the sanctioned organizations.

additionally:(from the same link")
The sanctions forbid US individuals and companies from doing business with those blacklist, and freezes any assets those blacklisted might have on US territory.

A particular aim of such sanctions is to limit their access to international financial services by locking them out of the US financial system.

NK needs to be globally sanctioned .. 100%.. nothing in, nothing out.

I'm trying to imagine what a sanction against North Korea would look like. Perhaps we would stop allowing visits by basketball celebrities?
