Lizard Squad says it won’t take down Xbox Live and PlayStation Network anymore.....

I wonder if NSA or the FBI knew that Drama Alert was hosting all these hackers. Some think Lizard Squad were the ones to hack Sony and not N Korea. Seems these guys can get into any systems they want? What say ye?

The “hacker” group Lizard Squad has declared it will no longer attack Microsoft’s Xbox Live and Sony’s PlayStation Network, as well as denied claims it had planned to attack Tor, an anonymity network often used to resist censorship. While the former appears to be true, the latter information is quite conflicting. First of all, the denial of service attack targeted both Xbox Live and PSN, the two largest console gaming networks. Next, the timing was key: Many gamers naturally wanted to play on their day off, whether on an already-purchased game console or on one received as a present for Christmas. Finally, the aftermath of the attack was massive if not greater than the attack itself because the game networks couldn’t handle the traffic of millions of consoles trying to get back online all at once after the attack was over.

Lizard Squad, which has had multiple Twitter accounts suspended but merely creates new ones, then moved on to the Tor encryption service. In addition to hosting three members from Lizard Squad, the latest DramaAlert episode also hosted two members from Anonymous, one member from Finest Squad, and Kim Dotcom. You can listen to the whole clip here: Among the topics discussed are Anonymous trying to expose Finest Squad as a scam group, Kim Dotcom saving the day by offering premium Mega vouchers in exchange for stopping the attacks on Microsoft and Sony’s gaming networks, as well as a technical discussion of the various attacks between the groups. The best part, in our opinion, comes about two-thirds in, when Dotcom tries to steer the discussion towards why these groups should focus on hacks that don’t tarnish the term “hacker.”

While it can be interesting to hear what some members of these groups believe, it’s important to emphasize that they don’t necessarily represent what will happen next. Objectives and beliefs change, as do the individuals that make up these groups.....snip~

Oh, and it looks like they are going after TOR. Which they are hoping to catch those who use this encrypted source. Like Snowden does and or catching a document dump.

Lizard Squad,’ The Group That Shut Down PlayStation Network And Xbox Live For 2 Straight Days, Is Now Reportedly Attacking Tor.....

While the hacker group offered an explanation for hammering Sony’s and Microsoft’s game networks with DDoS attacks, the group has not yet stated why they are going after the anonymous communication service. The Tor Project is one of the most popular and effective sites for encrypted communication: Whistleblowers like Edward Snowden have used the service, and it’s proven pivotal in “dissident movements” in Iran and Egypt.

Tor’s service keeps users anonymous by bouncing communications around a large network of computers known as “volunteer nodes.” But as Gizmodo points out, if one group can control most of the nodes — which is exactly what Lizard Squad is attempting to do here — it may “be able to eavesdrop on a substantial number of vulnerable users.” Computer programmer Nadim Kobeissi says Lizard Squad has claimed nearly half of Tor’s ~8,000 relays......snip~

Mornin' WCH. Some think these guys were behind the Sony and NKorea hack. Now they are being clear about going after this Whitleblower Site and for those that use these encrypted sources.

TOR responded back and said that Lizard squad and with what they held only made up 1 percent of their relays. That they were countering already. From this link they are playing catch up.

I guess these guys aren't worried about the FBI or NSA finding them, huh?

I have to wonder what the payoff is for doing all this hacking. Is it just a hobby for these guys or are they getting paid by online security companies etc?? Maybe our own government?

I am sure they are making money somehow......even if thru blackmail. Its like they aren't concerned about anyone catching them thru puters'. This video has 3 from Lizard Squad and 2 members of Anonymous in it.....as well as some others.

I don't think this TOR group should be out saying anything that will cause these guys to come after it. Just sayin.
