Obama Rewards Media Matters with a Political Nomination: Monitoring ELECTIONS

So the Republicans can ram him in the ass at every opportunity, and he's just supposed to take it?

Never said that... The President should be taking steps to unite, not increase division. Choices like this only serve to further divide this country. There are numerous people that could have been appointed that wouldn't have furthered the growing division and yet the President chose someone who would further that division. Instead of doing what YOU are doing (polarizing, insulting and making things worse), the President should be looking for opportunities to decrease the division whenever possible. He could have found someone that wouldn't have compromised his standards that also wouldn't have increased the division in this country, yet he CHOSE to appoint someone that was GUARANTEED to increase the division.

if it were not such a sorry state of affairs, your position would be laughable
if Obama says 'red' the reich wing will insist on 'blue'
hell, the leader of the senate GOP faction told us this right out of the gate of Obama's presidency
no matter who he appoints, the opposition will have a problem with the appointee
there is no possibility of compromise between the parties (with the exception of elevating the cap on campaign contributions)

don't worry, I get what you are saying... and mostly agree with the sentiment.( impartiality is pretty damn important when it comes to officiating elections)

democrats/liberals/progressives aren't likely to agree though...they( as well as Republicans) have all jumped on board the division train... both sides are fully invested in being overtly partisan (and both will blame the other side for their own divisive behavior)

as for my opinion on the whole thing.. I really don't care much... the federal government is a ****ing joke anymore... it's entirely about party.... of, by, and for The Party.
appointing a professional partisan hack to monitor elections , as you can tell by the other responses here, isn't a big deal....it's acceptable behavior ( except when the other Party does it)

Why should Obama acquiesce to Republicans who have done nothing but try to dick over his presidency since day one?

no need to "acquiesce" to Republicans... simply not appointing a professional partisan hack would suffice..... there has to be tons of Democrats that actually have experience with election management that can fill the spot.
these position are supposed to be for us, the people... they shouldn't be intended to benefit The Party

in any event, Obama will have to resubmit his name for the new Congress.... so Im kinda figuring ( if Obama submits him again) he won't get the nod....I don't see the GOP letting him get the position.

as an aside... I think it's stupid that the EAC actually exists...1.5 billion is spend by this agency... an agency that is redundant and unneccessary
