On Tuesday, the group claiming to be responsible for the massive Sony hack posted a message on text sharing site Pastebin threatening violence against theaters showing the movie 'The Interview,' the controversial Sony comedy action film about planning an assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The group (or someone claiming to represent the group) invoked the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks while threatening screenings of the movie, which is scheduled to be widely released on Christmas Day. I saw the previews and it looks like a spoof movie. Reminds me of the mythical White house film that launched a thousand Jihads. :)

I see none of the privacy activists that were moaning and crying about the surveillance activities of the NSA, GCHQ, etc taking issue with this invasion of privacy, but it could be a blessing in disguise. I hope the movie does good as well, should be fun.

North Korea needs to move on.

What makes Kim Jong Un think he can control which movies are shown in American theaters? He has no power here. I had no plans at first to see this film; now I'm looking forward to watching it. I want to see what is bothering this little twerp so much.

I do too, even though it looks really dumb. But WTF is with the response here? This has to be something pursued and instigated by North Korea, yeah?

This is hilarious.

I'd almost think it was an orchestrated hoax by Seth Rogen, but the Sony hack was real and embarrassed some execs, so I doubt that's the case.

What a massive amount of free publicity for this movie! I bet they are scaling back the ad budget as we speak- pocketing the savings.

A spokesperson for Landmark Sunshine cinemas said the New York premiere of "The Interview," scheduled for Thursday night, has been canceled. Carmike Cinemas, which operates 247 theaters across the country, was the first to cancel its planned showings of the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. With theater's actually giving into these assholes threats, I'm actually tempted now to go see the movie in theaters as opposed to waiting on redbox.

Would I've love to see Sony do...but they won't...is to basically go "you know what, with so many theaters already pulling this, lets just consider it a loss and thumb our nose as these little ****s". Make a call to Netflix and offer them rights to stream the movie on their service starting Christmas Day. These hackers seem to want to ruin the distribution of this movie to the masses...nothing gets it out to the masses more than putting it out there as free to stream for everyone with a netflix acount (AKA, a **** ton of people).

This is a pretty good example of everyone doing everything wrong. Assuming the hackers were from North Korea, all they managed to do was to give an otherwise forgettable movie free hype. And rather than being victimized, all Sony proved was that they actually do have skeletons they want to hide.
