Since the choice of an operating system has nothing at all to do with native intelligence, perhaps I'll change arrogance to confusion.

I have no opinion on BitCoin, neither pro or con, but have adopted a wait and see attitude.

I'm wondering if this is going to bit MS in the ass one of these days, or not.

Then perhaps you misunderstand, or choose to misunderstand the context derived meaning of stupid. In this case, stupid being potentially intelligent people making poor choices out of ignorance when they have no excuse, other than laziness, for their ignorance.

Leftist are stupid, never said they didn't have an IQ. Ok, maybe in a few cases I did in fact say that concerning certain individuals.

Stupidity, as I generally use the term, is not using the intelligence that they have to make good choices.

Never got into Apple. Costs were always too high for their systems.

Which they probably wouldn't have been hacked had they been using even an older version of Linux. Linux will probably cost more in labor costs because you have to hire IT people who are actually competent, but it would greatly reduce all other IT costs. Why aren't those systems "updated"? Because of Licensing fees to MS? Costs? Sure, if the use Red Hat or one of the other companies that charge for support and special features (it is illegal to actually charge for Linux itself), then there would be some costs involved, but then a few good IT guys could use a free version. How much does your department pay for using Windows? How much for other software, such as office suites that would be free/included in Linux versions?

Yes, viruses are installed due to user error, such as choosing to install windows. However, that does not change what a virus is. Phreakers/script kiddies deploy most viruses, not true hackers. But then, I haven't had to use a Virus checker or worry about them for years now, I simply didn't install the most prolific virus out there, Windows, in the first place. I also don't have an OS the checks in all the time with it's manufacture so they can "ensure" I'm not using in "illegal" software. A feature, which if hacked, leaves your system wide open btw.

Has nothing to do with being "mad". Providing people with an alternative view point and letting them gain knowledge is not about anger or emotions.
 
I like Bitcoin because it undermines the financial system and puts the financial power back into the hands of commoners. For the time being.

Now that Microsoft is on board with Bitcoin, it's sure to see some heavy investment in the currency.

I wasn't very pro-bitcoin and still ain't. I see it as a money laundering scheme and the avenue for criminals to purchase and transfer money for all sort of criminal activities and unless it gets fixed, what's the point of having it? It's no better than normal currency, indeed, with a few more chinks that normal currency.


Anyway. Microsoft started accepting them for some online/digital services in the USA alone so yeah... we'll see where it goes. They are trying to get a piece of a bitcoin paying market that has been growing very much in the past 2 years.

It's not just about software fees. There is a huge learning curve in large organizations and partial unwillingness for top executives to even care. Many times, they choose the easiest route instead of the cheapest. Don't ask me why. Execs hate large scale changes unless they can understand it and/or think of it. Then there is time constraints and teaching employees about new features and where "everything went." That's a common phrase I hear all time from updating certain windows programs. An entirely new ecosystem will freak everyone and other systems that work well already, out. It's the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality that still drives a lot of business.

We're a non-profit so the cost is a negligible factor since we get great 80% discounts from MS and even 20% from Verizon services.

Hope that clears some things up for you and maybe you learned something you never thought of before.

You're not doing a very good job with your stated crusade. This thread is about MS adapting bitcoins, not which OS is better. Something I would think you would be happy about. It shows MS future plans to be more open to adapting technologies. Yet you continue to ignore this even when I try to go back to the main topic. You keep spouting on about Linux and how MS is a "virus." Such purgative language suggests the very opposite of what you claimed. For you, it is about your linux agenda even when this topic has nothing to do with linux. I was kindly enough to answer your questions but until you answer mine about this topic, we will no longer debate the linux angle.

You called the most prolific operating system on the planet a virus. In a thread about bitcoins, for some reason. Don't pretend like you're here for reasoned debate based on facts, buddy. It's just sad.

Most people that accept bitcoin do not really take much, if any, risk on them. Much like moneychangers at the airport, they get a healthy arbitrage on the transaction price over market and offload the risk by moving them (selling them) immediately to a service that deals in bitcoin.
