Tell me again how higher prices at the grocery store helps people.
paying slightly more for goods will allow workers more opportunity for promotion. right now, you're paying more in taxes to make up for the artificially low prices. wouldn't you rather pay a fraction more for the goods so that workers could actually have a better chance of climbing into the middle class to be taxpayers instead of drawing public assistance?

it must suck to carry that level of contempt for a socioeconomic class. however, believe that if you want. i'm not going to waste any more time trying to convince you otherwise.

The poor don't pay federal income taxes. So that point is moot.

Also, you are claiming a "slight" increase. That's not the case with union grocery stores around here, their prices are significantly higher. So that's two strikes.

    Anything else?

i doubt you'd have to pay a lot more for them to get regular raises and more opportunity for promotion.

if you're not willing to do that, enjoy your higher taxes, because you're paying for it either way, and you're going to keep paying for it for the rest of your life, even if Republicans win a massive majority. i guess the illusion of artificially low prices and higher taxes is what you prefer. i prefer giving those workers more chances to not have to draw assistance in the first place.

How is it contemptuous to point out that some people are lazy? Have you ever watched the average shelf replenishment engineer or fast food worker work? I have, and none of them are in any hurry to advance.

Do you think higher pay is going to magically transform a lazy person into a go-getter? Raises have to be earned, not the other way around.

Have you ever had to supervise workers? Most, if you give them an inch, they'll take a mile. In most cases you cannot be overly nice with your charges, or they will take full advantage of that. Respect is a two way street, and cannot be forced.

You can doubt all you want. I just told you union stores have much higher prices. What part of that do you not understand? Do you have any evidence to refute that?

Also, you still have not answered the question of how higher grocery prices helps poor people, who do not pay federal income tax. Care to tackle that one?

Its not contempt its just the truth, you are so ignorant about retail business you couldnt even fathom a % of workers to be management for your ideal upward mobility. I have worked in retail all my adult life, hard workers always get promoted and lazy people always whine about how they got screwed over. You keep on this crusade about how people a stuck in these low level positions yet I worked my way up from the bottom by working hard. It can be done and its not even hard its just that most people arent willing to put in the work

face it, dude. you guys have contempt for labor. you really believe the "makers and takers" nonsense. it's part of why i left the right wing.

i live around a lot of poor people who used to work at factories for decent pay. they now work multiple retail jobs, sometimes as many as three. those jobs still don't pay what the old one did. most of them don't even bitch about it, but their kids have to be on medicaid because our health care system is totally ****ed.

they all work hard. harder than i have to work with a masters degree, and probably harder than you do. think about that the next time you're bitching about the lazy poor on the internet.
