John McCain CIA Torture Report Senate Speech

I would be cautious. The report might, or might not say that. Have you read it? I have not. I don't need to. I know the intelligence business.

I also believe this was treason.

Says the faceless, nameless poster on a chat forum.

And I'm Batman.

If you want to take the Democrat's word as it relates to "no intel gathered", you're welcome to do so. The Republicans on the committee and the CIA dispute that claim. But we'll likely never know because Republicans and the CIA don't go on Colbert to pump themselves up by disclosing highly classified information for their low information voters.

You have faith in Dianne Feinstein - I have faith in President Bush and the CIA

Why don't the Repugs get Daryl Issa to start a fact-finding report of their own? Of course only after he's finished with his 8th try at nailing some sort of Benghazi negligence.
And no... I have faith in facts and the truth.

If you want to be the good guys, you have to act like the good guys. I want to be one of the good guys. We do not need to torture, we should not torture, we should be better than those we are fighting against.

Right....blowing them to bits with predator drones is much more humane.

Bin Laden truly did win. With a single attack, he got the US entangled in the Middle East for over a decade, spending trillions of dollars and thousands of lives fighting pointless wars, and reduced America's moral authority to nothing.

The right-wing fell for it and pulled the rest of the country into the gutter with them.

Yup. When one really thinks about it, it's exactly what happened. Sadly, Bin Laden has won.

Sorry, it's a rough world, sometimes you gotta do rough things and our torture is extremely, meant to give the impression that we're capable of so much more without causing any lasting damage or even any real physical harm.

Amazingly, the CIA asked AG John Ashcroft to write a letter declining to prosecute CIA members for using the torture that they were using and intended to continue using. If it wasn't against the law, which it was/is, why would they want such a letter from the AG? Beyond all that we have no idea what else they did and how often. Water boarding once is torture, water boarding on a twice a day schedule for 10 consecutive days would be tortuous hell on earth and would likely destroy the sanity of any human.

This is not the first time I have spoken of my intelligence career. Signals, imagery, and humint. And near the very end measurements and signatures.

Perhaps they knew that treasonous democrats would one day be in a position to harm the nation. And them.

Another asinine post. Liberals remember nothing inconvenient.

Grow up yourself, asshole!!
I have grown up just fine, thank you. I don't wet my pants in public over the unpleasant aspects of war like many of you do.

I do not support treason. People will die because of this. And you support it. You, and people like you have blood on your hands.

Of course you support treason. I would put you in the same company as Pol Pot.

What it shows is that you'll do or say anything to escape the torture, even if you have no relevant information. So in that sense, it is a HORRIBLE method of gathering intelligence. But if you want to torture to inflict terror, then yes, it works.

Only to those who are ignorant about how intelligence gathering works. Whether you gather information from a normal interrogation or so-called enhanced interrogation, you don't just take it at face value. It's only actionable intelligence if you can collaborate it with other information that you do have. The same goes with interrogations by Police Detectives. The suspect being interrogated does not know how much information his interrogator already knows. The CIA is not stupid.

Good afternoon Risky,

That question has an easy answer, even for this Canadian.

The reason the "amnesty" letter was requested is because law enforcement and justice in America is totally a political game and they were well aware that a responsible conservative wouldn't always be in the White House. Just look at six years of Obama and Eric Holder and you have your answer.

Bin Laden stated his intentions, and the Bush Administration carried them out beautifully.

"We are continuing this policy in bleeding America to the point of bankruptcy. Allah willing, and nothing is too great for Allah," bin Laden said in the transcript."

"We, alongside the mujahedeen, bled Russia for 10 years until it went bankrupt and was forced to withdraw in defeat," bin Laden said."

"All that we have to do is to send two mujahedeen to the furthest point east to raise a piece of cloth on which is written al Qaeda, in order to make generals race there to cause America to suffer human, economic and political losses without their achieving anything of note other than some benefits for their private corporations," bin Laden said."

Should I hand you a crying towel?

Feinstein committed the treason. And you support her and her treason. You are on the wrong side of history. You and your kind have just damaged this nation for another 50 years.

All he really needed to do was get Obama into power. Obama has effectively bankrupted the nation.

It amazes me that there is this rather large segment of the population that still thinks torture works. How many centuries has the world practiced torture? How is it possible that there is this rather large segment of the population ignorant of it's failure?

To suggest flat out that torture does not work is ignorance. Like any other form of interrogation...it has it's successes and failures.

If you want to be the good guys, you have to act like the good guys. I want to be one of the good guys. We do not need to torture, we should not torture, we should be better than those we are fighting against.

..and the USA managed to survive many wars and conflicts for over 200 years without needing legalized torture.

I suppose in your fairy land 9/11 never happened or more likely, you would have just taken it and hidden.

Grow up. Some people were made uncomfortable.

Fine not in your name. What makes your name so special?

Be a big strong man, and let someone waterboard you.

Christopher Hitchins did...and he challenged Sean Hannity to, and Hannity said he would. That was about 4 years ago...still hasn't done it yet...but he sure blathers on about it like a big strong man...

Of course it happened, and that was the "Pearl Harbour" incident that Cheney, Rumsfeld, and the PNAC were waiting for in order to start their long-desired Iraq War. Like I said, Bin Laden found the perfect administration.
