Man Who Filmed Cop Choking Eric Garner Was Indicted (Video).....

So they shouldn't have arrested the felon carrying a weapon because of how people might take it? I would prefer the felon is off the streets myself.

Nah. I'm glad the guy is off the streets. I'm just questioning the motives of the police after the Garner thing. These two claim they've been followed since Orta made the video. Considering the source, I doubt it, but transparency of action by the police in these things is pretty important just now.

I like transparency as well. I don't trust the source of the accusations, but he will get his day in court.

I don't trust him for anything at all other than his already demonstrated preference for thuggery. Just so long as NYPD stays clean in this, it'll be fine. I sure hope that hand gun was loaded. Orta won't walk away from that one anytime soon.

This doesn't look good for the NYPD huh? What do you think about this guy who took the video of Garner? Is he telling stories or the truth?

Ramsey Orta, the man who filmed New York City Police Officer Daniel Pantaleo applying a fatal chokehold to Eric Garner on July 17, was indicted by a grand jury in Staten Island, New York.

According to the Staten Island Advance, Orta was indicted on weapons charges after an arrest on Aug. 2 in the St. George neighborhood of Staten Island. "They lying on me, they doing me wrong," said Orta after he pleaded not guilty in August, noted the New York Daily News. "I've been harassed by the police since this whole video." Orta's mother told CBS New York that police had been following her son ever since he filmed Garner's death (video below).....snip~

The charges he faces have nothing to do with the filming of the incident. So I don't think anything of it.

The PD is rigged, as is known to us all. And if anyone angers the authority, he is going to face the imminent and incessant retaliation. It may sound pessimistic but it is true anyway.

Gotta love New York. I'm sure selling cigarettes there would be a capital offense. I think this is a good example of the pitfalls of a nanny state, a way over reaction to something so minor as selling smokes.

Hey! If the city allowed just anybody to sell cigarettes that might lead to free enterprise. The very liberal New York City is not likely to want that to happen. The next thing you know people would be getting out of poverty without democratic politicians holding their hands.

Yeah; that means the video is a lie.

This guy is an idiot.

NYPD chokehold videographer: cops

He has priors involving weapons, was in a known drug area, and had a weapon on him which he then gave to a minor in hopes that the cops wouldn't find it on him. If he thought the cops were following him and harassing him and he still had a gun on him, then I feel no pity for him.
Ummmmm if the cops where following him and harassing him (which I'm quite sure they were) that would be all the more reason to carry a gun.

The only reason he's a idiot is for not shooting at them when they came at him. That would have been the most logical decision. Fire off some rounds and get the F*** outta their!
Heya CM. :2wave: Yeah he don't strike me as the type that he would listen to his teachers either. Which if the youth of America has no civility with Teachers and the Police, or respect.....then where does that lead with our future. As then it will be the same for any Authority figures.

Although, he does have his mother reporting to a separate news source. Which I wouldn't doubt the NYPD is keeping a watch on him.
Well people should listen to their teachers when they have good ones, unfortunately in inner city school systems their are not many left because of the absurd burdens put on them by the state (like making them buy their own supply's out of their check, or punishing them for students drawing in textbooks) this sort of policy trickles down to the students, and makes the teachers very apathetic. I have had teachers that allowed students to play Xbox all day in class. I had a history teacher that was using textbooks from 1988 in 2003 when their were fresh ones in the basement. Why would I listen to her?

No one should listen to the pigs. They should be jailed, fined, and forced to do community service depending on the pig. I bet theirs around 5 good pigs per state...

Well it is technically illegal. People sell single cigarettes on the corners in all the city's up here. Its illegal anywhere, not just NYC or Boston or Philly. Just people don't do it elsewhere...

Furthermore this whole "nanny state" idea is absurd. An mirage made by fox news and other cons...

In the instance of selling loose cigarettes they are protecting tobacco company's, not trying to help the people...

The state does not do nearly enough to help the people. If they did we would have universal healthcare and education like the rest of the civilized world. They do plenty to protect the "free" market however to everybody's detriment...

This is the same city that convicted a woman for physically defending herself after the police sexually assaulted her.

That dear sir is some good wisdom that was passed on. Glad to have been the first one to like that.

Breaking the law is breaking the law, whether minor or big, it can't be passed.

People shouldn't be let free just because the law they broke was "minor."
And while cops are arresting people for jaywalking or playing loud music you wonder why it takes cops so long to show up for rape victims, shots fired, cars stolen, or house robberies.

Yea, shoot at them. That's the solution.

Stopped listening when you referred to them as pigs.

NYC administration has decided that the key to solving crime is to arrest people for the most minor misdemeanors calling it the broken window doctrine. The theory is that it's wasted effort to try to prevent or solve assault, rape and murder. Rather, to reduce crime prosecute people for letting a parking meter expire or avoiding a 29 cent tax. They believe that way they can reduce crime.
So in the theory, Garner as a suspect for selling untaxed cigarettes meant his was far more dangerous than a rapist or murderer. The lesser the offense, the greater the danger. It is only coincidental this was related to taxes of course. City hall doesn't care about that and there is no profit motive.

Well we got a real winner here boys....

So you advocate killing some cops?

I didn't think worthless ghetto scum used the internet for forums...... Welcome.

Hey I call em like I see em.

If you have a militaristic police force that has the power to try themselves, and acts in absurd ways against huge portions of the population (white and black, but more black, and all impoverished) then they are not police, they are pigs. Mix in boatloads of corruption to meet quotas and reselling the drugs they steal, stealing the money they confiscate, you have american pigs.

The most corrupt police should be jailed, and they all should be made to do community service/repay those they have wronged out of pocket. If they try to atack you (as they did to this man) you have every right to shoot them.

Not reading just shows me your ineptitude to look at something objectively...

Hilarious. Yes the police need to be dealt with and if you are being followed and harassed by them you have every right to defend yourself.

I could report you, but worthless ghetto scum do not snitch. We have the moral high ground to most in america...

He probably saw your point coming and decided to fire off some verbal shots before running away. Given your proclivity for the tactic I'm surprised you don't approve.

Apparently, he's not the only one. His wife also got arrested for allegedly slapping somebody at a grocery store....

Miscreants do tend to attract other miscreants.

It's been my experience that when you start name calling, you have lost the ability to be objective.

The problem I have with your thought here is that you are assuming the police force as a whole is corrupt. It's part of the 24-hour news cycle problem. All that is reported is whenever a police officer is caught doing something deemed inappropriate. Very rarely do you hear about the cops who are doing the most good. It just doesn't make for good television.

Ok but you gotta believe cigarettes to be weapons of mass destruction though, right? Selling "loose" cigarettes....think of the children.

Some liberals, like myself, believe cigarettes should remain legal. However, taxation and regulation may be justified. Therefore, in the case of selling cigarettes illegally, a fine is sufficient... not a chokehold.
