You really want to thank our military personnel? How about you convince those Republican representatives of yours to actually expend enough resources to support our growing list of veterans.

    "You're welcome." Get over yourself.
    What unit were you in?

Today they refer to them as "trophy wives".

Did I say thank you to you without realizing it?

It's rude to accept praise and gratitude that hasn't been delivered, as if you're entitled to it. It's this attitude of entitlement that makes certain members of service seem holier-than-thou... because, you know, ONLY the military is capable of protecting and furthering our rights -- and not activists, the courts, proactive members of government, cooperation with foreign governments, scientific inventors, etc. It's just all you guys, yep.

Thank you for your service btw, but you're not more or less important than others who risk their lives to make America functional.

I do not see them elevated to the status of worship....just respect and gratitude.
I disagree. There are people who act like we should be down on our knees praising and ingratiating service people above everyone else in society. Our country is a dynamic system and a lot of people in many different fields play a role in keeping us united, functional, and progressive. You don't see any farmers parades going down the street, or alaskan fishermen.

The vets from WWII are a different story. The wars they fought were actually a threat to the entire western world and if people didn't step up we would probably be ruled by nazis by now.

Hard to look at most wars since then in the same light since they're basically imperialism. Not that that's the fault of soldiers.
