It's rude to accept praise and gratitude that hasn't been delivered, as if you're entitled to it. It's this attitude of entitlement that makes certain members of service seem holier-than-thou... because, you know, ONLY the military is capable of protecting and furthering our rights -- and not activists, the courts, proactive members of government, cooperation with foreign governments, scientific inventors, etc. It's just all you guys, yep.
Thank you for your service btw, but you're not more or less important than others who risk their lives to make America functional.
The vets from WWII are a different story. The wars they fought were actually a threat to the entire western world and if people didn't step up we would probably be ruled by nazis by now.
Hard to look at most wars since then in the same light since they're basically imperialism. Not that that's the fault of soldiers.
