Dood had been arrested numerous time for the same crime that he was reported to be doing when the police arrived. He knew the drill. He chose to not cooperate. That landed him on the ground in handcuffs. An hour later, he died of a cardiac arrest.
I hadn't heard he'd resisted arrest that many times. Where's the article on this? I'd love to read it, to see if there's more to this than meets the eye. All I saw was this big teddy bear who looked like Michael Clarke Duncan. I didn't realize he'd resisted arrest that many times, for the same thing he got popped on this time.

    Nope...not a novice.

"Family and friends said Mr. Garner was married with six children and two grandchildren. He has a criminal record that includes more than 30 arrests dating back to 1980 on charges such as assault, resisting arrest and grand larceny. An official said the charges include several incidents in which he was arrested for selling unlicensed cigarettes."

Just sayin. With all the real and legit instances of excessive pol, icing and yes, even brutaltiy, so much effort is spent on these ridiculous cases. Its like they go out of their way to find the most worthless beat up overweight swayback nags to enter into the Derby and wonder why they never get out of the gates.

Can you point to the law that made that hold illegal? After this many days would an honest person use that term?

I haven't seen how many times he was nabbed for "resisting arrest" before, but it definitely wasn't 30.

That said, his prior rap sheet has no bearing on whether the police used excessive force in subduing him, which I think it's plainly obvious they did.

Why do you think it was excessive?

Given the amount of "resisting" he was doing (virtually none), it was clearly excessive.

Watch the video again. The officer who put him in the choke hold did so from behind, where Garner couldn't see him, and he was dogpiled by four other officers.
