Sorry to all you Portman fans. I liked the guy too. We were just discussing him on here recently re: his change of heart on SSM.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Ohio Sen. Rob Portman says he will not run for president in 2016, choosing instead to seek a second term in the Senate over the Republican nomination for the White House.

The former White House budget chief and U.S. trade representative said he feels he can play an important role as a member of the new Republican majority in the Senate, where he wants to help break the gridlock that has largely paralyzed Congress the past two years.

"I'm excited about it," Portman said Monday in an interview, adding that he didn't think he could be as effective as a senator while at the same time running for president.

Greetings, tres borrachos. :2wave:

Portman is a good man, although I would prefer a former Governor as President - since they have learned the business end of government as well as the political - and we have a good one in Ohio - John Kasich. I don't know if he has decided yet, though.

Yesterday I stained for hours what felt like 100 miles of baseboard and trim in my granddaughter's house, and I hope to finish the last 100 miles today! My knees hurt, and I feel like there's a good chance I might be permanently crippled! :lamo: Have a great day, and I'll see everyone tomorrow! P.S. Love your avatar, and I like your idea of changing it depending on the month! Clever!

This entire story reminds me of the adage about the tree falling in the forest but nobody is around to hear it. Portman was not even a blip on the scene - let alone any sort of contender.

, and he would be good on policy too!

Now, if we can get Huckabee to drop out that would be another plus.

It's a wise move by Portman and sets him up perfectly to be Jeb Bush's VP running mate in 2016.
