Perhaps this incessant concern over image is the problem, eh?

We NEED to be concerned about these images. Because that's what some real-live trolls seem to want.

And if things go that far, then there's nothing wrong with widespread civil disobedience in response.

Just wrong. I'm sorry, but even if you think the grand jury was wrong, it's unlikely that these people in Seattle were on that grand jury. They have nothing to do with it.

I have to agree, but looking at the bigger picture, there is a growing problem and something needs to be done. It seems cops now have carte blanche to kill in the line of duty - not when their life is in danger, but at whim. Today you can go on google video or youtube and see case after case of the cops murdering unarmed civilians and getting away with senseless murders under the guise of "authority". They are not being prosecuted. The root of the problem seems to be the justice system itself. It's failing. It needs to be revised.

If cops are going to brutally murder people, they need to be charged accordingly, just like anybody else. If you have thousands rioting in the streets all over the country, wouldn't it be safe to say that "We the People" have not been well represented by this "grand jury"?

It doesn't present a threat to blacks either. At east not to blacks that aren't currently beating on a Police Officer.

When one is living under a system that does not treat one fairly, instances of perceived gross injustice serve as very real threats to the group collectively. One cannot understand this from merely the perspective of the majority power. Ever been a minority in a dangerous situation that starts to go bad? Not the same as being the one with power behind them.

You mean like the store owner? He is more of a minority in this country than Mike Brown was, and he really was abused by Mike Brown. Should he go burn some houses or just assault some police officers?

You really have some absurdly low expectations of your fellow Americans that, as far as I can tell, stem entirely from their skin color.

Understanding sociology is not "stem entirely from their skin color". Spare us the pathetic running to absolutes, projecting absolutes is painfully stupid.

Good grief that is hilarious! Your "When one is living under a system.." post is one long statement of absolutes! I actually offered a single person test of your absolutist statement to show your absolute claim is utter bull crap and you try and blame ME for making an absolutist statement? Stop embarrassing yourself, dude.

What I see is a waste of a wonderful non lethal resource to control riots...for image. Water cannons would have probably saved a few innocent shop owners from losing EVERYTHING in their fire.

Wasting some water is a bigger problem than physically abusing human beings?

Wow, just, wow. Your attitudes are the attitudes of a barbarian.

Lmao!!! Not at all what I meant. I meant not letting riot police use water hoses now is a waste. It is stupid. Water hoses are much more effective and SAFER form of riot control. We don't use them because of the 60s, and that is stupid. We might as well stop using them to fight fire. That would be equally as stupid.

Alright, maybe I misread you a bit. This is DP, after all, and I've seen some hideous **** here.

Riot control with water cannons is an very-high-risk endeavor. All it takes is one person to get hurt by a high pressure water spray, and images and stories of said injury are immediately circulated around the world.

Look, police can only do so much. It's long past time that we as a society start addressing the horrifying conditions that occasionally cause people to lose their minds and riot.

I completely understand lol. I worded that poorly.

Sure we need to do things about law enforcement. I think a lot IS being done, but many don't look past what they see on YouTube. I see a lot of professional cops who don't don't abuse their power. But it is always that one bad apple.

I don't think we should let one bad apple prevent us from using effective tools though. I mean not only can you hold back large crowds, you can put out fires.
